Let's try to explain simply why Israel launched a series of attacks on Iran last night.

Iran is ruled by the cannibalistic regime of the Ayatollahs, who keep their citizens as slaves.
The official state doctrine - not in slogans, but in documents - is:
a) destroy Israel.
And this is not just aggressive rhetoric - this is Tehran's official, strategically constructed doctrine.

Iran is pursuing this by two routes.

The first is terror throughout the region:
Hizbullah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, the Shiite militias in Iraq and Afghanistan are all proxies for Iran.
It's all Iranian weapons, Iranian money, Iranian orders.

The second route is nuclear weapons.
Not to protect themselves, but to destroy others.
They already have 5 to 15 bombs of enriched uranium.
At the same time, Israeli intelligence reported: Iran has already reached the production of 300 ballistic missiles per month. A month. Not a year.

Doesn't it still bother you why a country with such a doctrine needs thousands of ballistic missiles and a nuclear charge?

Serious question, what is the average Israeli attitude to serving in the military? I know national service is compulsory except for the most extreme Jews, but otherwise?

So it varies, some see it as a great patriotic duty, but generally (I am talking Pre-Oct 7, now Israel is in ww2 levels of patriotism) the Israelis see it as their national duty, they might like it but its something they have to put up with, Jews would rather spend their 20s going to colleges and partying like Americans do, but because everyone wants to kill Jews and destroy Israel they have to do their service (Israel doesn't have enough people to make a proper reserve force/national guard so they train all the people for a bit so they can call them up as needed). Its a job where you get paid shit, have to stand around a bunch in the desert, live in dorms, and have weekends free. The only good thing is that because Israel is so small, people often go home when they are on leave. You don't have to be in the IDF you can teach poor people or do civil national service but its easier (and more fun) to shoot guns for a bit. It's like an endless gym class, some like it, some hate it, and most put up with it. The IDF an an institution is like every institution, bureaucratic. But I will say the idf as a whole is less "formal" than the US military, if anything it is closer to how the US coast guard acts or even the national guard/reserves.

In the UK, national service is mentioned now and again in reference to Russia, but the public attitude is fuck off. Who would even be eligible? Fat fucks, people with disabilities both real and imaginary, fake autists, the lost goes on.

Well in Israel they put people in areas where their medical issues won't be a problem (because they can't spare people). So, if you are allergic to bees, instead of kicking you out like how the USA would, they will stick you in an office/infront of a computer (where you won't find bees). If you are autistic they take you and have you look at maps and intel because autistics are good at that stuff. Howeve if you are truly fucked in the head or actually retarded they won't take you. Also in Israel most people aren't super fat fucks because a) the food is healthier because of that mediterianian diet b) the army makes them fit. If Israel could go to a volunteer army like the UK or the USA have they would love it.

All those browns we let in certainly aren't going to help. Anyone who could serve won't because life generally fucking sucks, everything is too expensive, taxes keep going up, things just get worse. Then unwashed masses arrive and get everything given to them, same as the whites here who just don't feel like working. Who would want to defend this?

In Israel only Jews (both men and woman), Druze (only men), Cessarians (men) are required to serve. Both the Druze and Cessarians have small communities so the woman don't have to serve and Jewish woman have a shorter term than men. If you're a Muslim or an arab or a Christian or a Bedouin or a female Druze or cessairans you can volunteer to serve if you want to but you aren't required to. and if you do the IDF will not deploy you to the area your family/extended family/cousins are from. So for example if you have family in the west bank they will deploy you to gaza or lebanon. They don't want to put you in a situation where you might have to shoot your cousin.

For many the IDF is for their development the way college is. Its the first time many date/have sex/meet new people/travel/etc etc. So if your college has a volunteer ambulance or first responder group (some us colleges have that), imagine those people, but a whole country and you're forced to do it,

Now some branches and areas are more "serious" than some (the airforce and spec ops operate like how the USA does for its people). But if you ever were a volunteer firefighter or EMT or lifeguard, imagine that but everyone has to do it. And you're 18 and you're told "if you fuck up not only can you die, but so will your family, your friends and your dogs and cats". (Oct 7 and every war Israel has fought proves that). And the threat is more real than joining the US military to make sure China doesn't do something stupid to Taiwan or to keep Vietnam commie free. So it can be fun but it's not "fun" like how the US military can "be fun".
