Yeah, I can't fix a spelling mistake on it either, I don't know why.
For me, what I didn't know is that they can deport them both whenever, and for pretty much any reason. They don't have to stand trial. Any day now they can get a knock on their door telling them to gtfo. For Chantal it's not a big deal, but I think Salah getting deported back to Syria is a very real possibility, especially over Scatgate.

I suspect like most of the various people born in Kuwait but with citizenship in another country, they all try to keep their head down and behave themselves. If they are not living in the country of passport, there is a reason why. Usually their own country is a war-torn shithole or they are the wrong flavor of religion/politics. It has to be pretty grim if Kuwait is a better choice than wherever.

Kuwait is going through a real "deport the foreigners" phase because so many Kuwaiti citizens are unemployed right now. TPTB like to think that their own citizens actually want to work and not just sit around and smoke shisha, gossip and live on the equivalent of the Kuwaiti dole.

Salah wouldn't do well in Syria. He supposedly still has some form of relatives there, but he has probably never met them, so it's not like close family. * The expat must earn 800KD (2614 USD) per month to sponsor a spouse or child.
* There's a govt department actively monitoring to catch expats whose income falls below that due to salary cuts.
* Exceptions may be granted for children under 5 yrs old, but everyone else gets deported ASAP. Your 6 yr old daughter can fuck off back to India.

In other words, there's absolutely no way Salah could ever qualify to sponsor Chantal for a spouse visa even if they were married. 800KD a month is a professional level income in Kuwait, and Salah can't possibly earn that much money.
