The US doesn't talk about it openly very much because we are nominally allies with Pakistan, but there are tons of people in the US intelligence community who lose sleep at night worrying about Pakistan's nukes. They have quite a lot of them, their security is dubious at best, and Pakistan is getting a lot of help from China.

If the US joins a war because Israel said so then how far exactly are we from the possibility of drafting young men for the same reason?

We're still dealing with the consequences of the other times we bombed the Middle East. I don't think we are going to get drafted but I can't blame people who think so given that we give everything else to Israel.

A state of formal war does not need to exist for us to have regular non sf troops in a place. Not everyone currently in Syria is special forces. Not far cause Iran is like 2x the territory and 3x the people of Iraq and Afghanistan combined. and all that terrain is completely mountainous and favors guerilla warfare. And reminder, both Afghanistan and Iraq were garrisoned with only like a 1/3 the troops, that were estimated to be required to effectively police the areas.
