To expand on this a bit, modern “pony” cars are really just muscle cars. Modern, tasteless, consumerist American sensibilities (fits Nick to a tee) demand that cars be bigger, louder, more noticeable, more expensive and the thought of buying a normal looking car with a huge engine is now ridiculous.
Look at a late 80’s Fox-platform Mustang. It just looks like a normal car from the day. The 1994 redesign was intentionally sporty and a break from the norm, and the 2005 redesign is basically the modern day “LOOK AT ME AND HOW HUGE MY DICK MUST BE” version Nick owns. I can’t really think of a car that screams nouveau rich more than the GT500 Rustang.

Sure. And particularly so when what you're cooking is heavily sauced or spiced anyway. But my wife cooks like that. She never does anything properly. Everything is always about the fastest/easiest way to do it while she multi-tasks. But even when her food is edible, it rarely gives me any pleasure. Often, I find it inedible. Cooking is like a lot of crafts insofar as the care that you take over the small matters might not make a huge difference individually, but the effect is cumulative.
