2025 Israel vs Iran War

In 1992, Bill Clinton won the presidential election, marking an end to US Cold War spending doctrine, which HW had kept going, resulting in the absolute shitter shattering that was the 1991 Operation Desert Storm.
I know in hindsight it seems kind of silly, but in 1992, we basically had world peace! The gap in power potential was so vast that America literally could coast and dismantle its military over 30 years and maintain a qualitative and quantitative superiority in pretty much every domain. Effective global peace for the first time in half a century. Not a bad time to try and change the nature of the beast and make it less psychotically powerful. A peace dividend made Europe gay, sanctimonious, and most importantly it left them happy and rich, and it could have done the same for us. War is ultimately an existential risk to everyone, and maintaining this capacity to launch a land invasion of Europe in the 1990s might not have been wise. A key pillar of the US military posture was NATO countries pulling their weight with a deterrent threat. Until arguably 2008 or 2014 there wasn't really much of an adversary to deter in Europe.

I think Obama bears more of the blame than Clinton, who really wanted to ape a restraint-based, over-the-horizon strike approach to global security, which was a fundamental misdiagnosis of what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan and with ISIS. This doomed the country to 8 years of observing placidly that China, Russia, and Iran were developing new capabilities at a fast rate while American military prestige was decimated by the retarded Afghan policy.

Historians are some of the weirdest people ever. I don't mean amateur hobby ones, I mean real career history people. I cannot fathom giving such a fuck about like...some Medieval minor noble; but there's people that have built their entire careers, and even their personalities about deeply understanding one guy and his impact on the four other guys around him, 600 years ago.

It's why I find the 'History was written by the winners' meme so stupid. Historians are weird goblin people that will obsess and obsess and obsess and parasocially connect with people 2000 years dead. I chatted with a girl at university that was writing a book about a single Roman era Bri'ish hooker that lived near Eboracum. She was nearly 800 pages into it, and would casually talk about this womans friends like she personally knew them. Weirdos.
You know how sometimes you'll run across a wiki for a random show, and someone will have written a 10,000 word entry for some random side character? Historians are like that, except for random Duke's whose duchy lasted for ten years in the 1300s. Exact same energy,

Look any regime that made its raison d'etre to shout 'death to America' 'Death to Israel' cant very well surrender to the yanks/Jews and hope to remain in power.

They needs a honorable out where they agree to everything (at a minimum some weapons limits, and no nukes) but still look like they fought a good fight. Hopefully the US doesn't force them into taking a knee because they would then have no choice but to resist.

Also Israel does have contacts with some of the more mild forces within the Iranian government who im sure are negotiating a coup or some sort of face saving deal. Yes these negotiations dont usually add up to much, but i guess we'll see.

Except that you merged or bankrupted most of the companies innovating, laid off or retired most of the R&D big brains, and shut off the military industrial research pipeline from universities. Bill Clinton absolutely has most of the blame.

Iran has prepared to fire missiles at US forces if the United States strikes Iran, according to the New York Times. The outlet reported that Iran would first attack US positions in Iraq and then in other unspecified Arab countries, presumably those around the Persian Gulf.
Iran retaliating against a U.S. strike is just posturing; they can barely fight back against Israel.
I suppose the idea here it to escalate as much as possible and hope they can minimize damage in the chaos.

I have a concept for a reverse bunker buster. Instead of digging down into the facility just throw all of the worlds most toxic garbage on top of it in a giant pile until its too stinky and dangerous to even approach. The previous facility entrances would be covered under a mountain of mountain dew bottles.
I guess that's one way to finally clean Asmongold's room, drop it on Iran

Call me crazy for this take, but our country would be better off being able to produce our current technologies at scale rather than continuing to invest ever greature budgets into ever newer and more bleeding edge technologies. Not that improved technological edges aren't welcome but not being able to produce defensive missiles in the number we need them is more of a problem than falling behind russia/china technologically.

In theory it is, until China finished the next Manhattan project because your entire industrial base is about making what works now, rather than chasing the next war.

Thats a future problem. The more pressing immediate problem is not having enough weapons to prosecute today's war. Arguably having fancier and more sophisticated missile technology is moot if you cant produce them in sufficient quantity to make a difference. How're those Russian Armata tanks doing incidentally?

Do you not see the irony of this? Posting it on KF?
