Is TFR supposed to be boring or did I go down a wrong path. I went Le Pen France thinking there'd be some funny schizo stuff and got nothing but I'm assume I missed some military coup or some shit.

Civilian population might look like it has increased, but the second number next to it is lower. The first number should probably go down, but I think a bug is getting in the way because to my knowledge, PDX never intended for the monthly pop factor to go into the negatives.

the second number is the civilian population before any losses incurred in combat
you could conscript a high percentage of your population

get them killed

then loosen up conscription, so your civilian population would go back to "normal", with a reduction in the actual civilian population

interestingly this is not reflected in the overall population of a state, or the population of the country, which remains the same regardless of how many conscripts are killed

Because you are going with the normalfag paths with the (arguably) most normalfag country. You usually get the schizo paths by losing whatever war you have at the beggining, for China is the Taiwan war, and for Russia/EU countries it's the first euro war. Then you get some real schizo paths

I disapprove the way to get a fun eccentric path is through losing a war. In TNO going down George Wallace path to become the US president, requires you to do nothing such as not sending troops to Guyana and purposely dragging the South African war long enough to lose Republican-Democrat support.

The problem is not losing, it's that there's no real strategy or fun involved in losing. If the AI was competent and the war meaningfully engaging, there'd be no problem in losing.

But this is HoI4, whose playerbase consists of people who think VNs are grand strategy and can't fathom the concept of a game system that you can meaningfully learn from through a loss.

Small problem:
My entire HOI4 workshop got wiped completely. I was having some trouble with HOI so I tried reinstalling it, the thing is I thought my workshop folder would stay untouched since that's what happened when I unisntalled Gmod, but instead my ENTIRE workshop folder including .zip archives of my mods and the GDR mod folder got shoah'd. I have the events and national focus tree cached in notepad++ but a bunch of my other mods that I made for my personal use got shoah'd. I recovered some of them using Disk Drill but for some reason it didn't register all my workshop mods folder including the GDR mod which was stored in a regular file and not a zip.
Overall, it might be ogre but we can start again. Note to self in the future, store your mods outside your steam directory. On a sidenote, imagining Schwab talking with an exaggerated German accent as I read 4IR has gotten a good chuckle out of me.

The TNO devs couldn't get Poland, Egypt, Italian East Africa, Socialist Catalonia, Ukraine, Kaukasia, Iraq, and Vietnam content, but they could make this. How much time was wasted during pre-release? How much time is being wasted now?

Oof. I've lost progress like that before, which has made me paranoid about keeping backups.

On steam, try "verify integrity of game files" before going for a clean reinstall. That will fix any missing or altered game files without altering your mod files.
