Got into contact with an Iranian in Tehran who is using Starlink to connect to the wider internet after the Iranians cut it off. He's been stuck at home for a few days but says that on twitter Iranian people are cheering on Israel.

I got more scoop on what’s going on from Iranians in Tehran. Because so many people in Tehran are evacuating, remaining locals have organizing to feed stray cats, care for elderly who are left behind, and feed family pets. At the same time, many people are remaining, including in Area 3 where Israel told everyone to evacuate from a few days ago. Most people who are leaving either go north to places by the sea, while some people are just relocating from the center of the city to the outskirts.

“Nothing ever happens” crew, can someone please explain what your standard for “something happening” is? Because Iran and Israel sending thousands of missiles at each other and Israel demolishing Iran’s whole military chain of command + their nuclear scientists + their infrastructure both seem pretty significant to me.

What are the odds these guys were turned away from a civilian bunker? Quite a few reports of non-jews being given the Bethlehem inn treatment.

I’m pretty sure this is not a thing. If people are out on the street when the sirens go off, they generally just go in the nearest open building and if they have a shelter (most buildings in Tel Aviv do) it’s probably labeled clearly and/or you can see people going in and follow them. They then simply walk into the shelter. There’s nobody policing who goes into the shelter, they’re reinforced basements not some kind of guarded bunker you need to show ID to get into. I guess it’s possible that the people already inside could be really hostile but the vast majority of Israelis do not hate Arabs quite enough to fuck around with them while they’re trying to hide from missiles.

And then blew it to hell and back as step one.
