Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

If they spent as much time actually playing the games they pirate, like I do, instead of bragging about how much they pirate and how much better they are for doing it and how everyone should be like them, and go out of their way to directly taunt corporations, maybe corpos wouldn't be locked in as much of an arms race as they are with piracy. A lot of the blame falls on zoomers who can't into the slightest amount of opsec, it was a rom site holocaust the moment an ios compatible emulator came out and crusty ipad kiddies just had to spend every waking moment bragging about something everyone else has had access to for many years.
As they say, "Discretion is the better part of valor.".

DK isn’t his usual more adventurous leader self. While a dummy, he was always someone who can put the foot down and approached things with major confidence. Bananza DK is filled with millennial “relatable” traits, being much more of a boy failure character.
Seems fine elsewhere, this is just two different designs clashing more than anything.

Translation into non-beaner:
"I always feel myself there...in that...place."

I still have to disagree. DK just feels different as a character. Part of it is definitely the new design, but he just comes off as lamer in a way.

A lot of my grievances are ones DK fans have been expressing for years when it comes to Nintendo DK vs Rare/Retro. My main issue with Bananza is that it is basically the ultimate step into Nintendo, and Shiggy’s view of DK, which is that he is a dumb goofy ape.

Rare/Retro were big on making DK cool. He had a decent amount of maturity to him that made him seem like he can handle anything. Lazy, and a little bit goofy, but overall played the big man that would defend his turf amongst anyone who tries to mess with him. Bananza strikes me as odd as DK is far more dumb, constantly having wild expressions, sticking his tongue out like an idiot, etc.. In trying to make him so expressive, you lose that straight-faced, cool hero that he was in the former country titles and even some off titles like Jungle Beat. He’s overall too childlike, making him feel more like Mario.
IMG_0129.webp

The world design is also strange. DK is typically more grounded in terms of world: Jungles, Factories, Mines, etc.. The grounded nature did a lot to set him apart from Mario and sort of add to the coolness. This new game feels incredibly plastic-like, which is a weird choice given the Odyssey team just made a more realism heavy title.

Will Bananza be a good game, probably. I think my main gripe about it is that nothing feels DK about it beyond the characters being plopped in. DK is basically different character entering a completely foreign setting. I think this video explains me better, just so we can move off this topic, but my general impression so far is that I am just not vibing with this DK currently.

Dual releases do sell new hardware, always have. You are alone in thinking they don't.
Maybe, but they're not going to hit Switch 1 numbers (let alone surpass them) and you're alone in thinking they will with this dripfeed rate of software.

And the "it is just reskinned Mario Odyssey" is totally confusing when a bunch of the people here were saying they wanted more of that.
If we wanted Odyssey 2 we'd ask for Odyssey 2. DK is supposed to have its own identity, this doesn't look anything like DK.

If anything, this would have been more fitting as a Wario title. The weird world, transformations, treasure hunting, smashing mechanics and emphasis on animations/ funny faces feel way more inline with how Wario operates.
I completely agree. It's kinda weird, maybe it started off as a different game, maybe even a Wario game.

Not to mention that it just looks graphically bad in many areas.
This was almost certainly a Switch 1 game held back for Switch 2, like Mario Kart World and Metroid Prime 4, which is only releasing for Switch 1 because it was already announced for it, otherwise they'd pretend it's a Switch 2 exclusive like these games.

New is good, expand the world, don't get stuck in the mud. Franchises that get stuck almost always die.
Nah, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Rare perfected DK's world and image and vibe, and this murders that even more than Retro did.

I'm not saying the game looks bad, I'm interested in it, but it's not DK. It's losing its identity.

Splatoon is most likely not this year, but outside of mario kart (you know, the sequel to the 5th best selling video game of all time), there's DK which is generating massive buzz after the direct, a sequel to kirby air ride, a new hyrule warriors, and dramatically improved versions of pokemon and metroid prime 4. Yes, pokemon and prime 4 don't count as exclusives, but in terms of moving consoles? This isn't ps5, where early crossgen games often played at a WORSE framerate on the ps5 version, there are fucking huge differences, I'm getting a switch 2 when prime 4 comes out for 120fps and mouse controls, and I know I'm not the only one, especially when pokemon is also coming. And this is just the known titles for the first 6 months of the console.
Why are we getting a bunch of shitty spinoffs, none with release dates? Kirby in particular overlapping with MKW is odd and frankly dumb timing.

If you wanna say "That's not good enough for me", I totally get that, and I more than respect it, if I wasn't such a slave to Metroid, I probably wouldn't get one this year either. But to say "Nintendo's totally in trouble this time you guys, two more weeks!" is a completely different thing when the ps5 launched at a higher price with only a demake of a ps3 game for the first 7 months.
Depends on how you define trouble. It was never going to be as bad a flop as Wii U, it'll probably sell somewhere between 3DS-Wii, which is obviously a success on paper, but the squandered potential is pretty obvious. Things can change but I do not see this shit gaining momentum after Christmas if this is the level of support we're gonna see going into next year.

Things can change, but if we're really saying "well at least it isn't PS5!" then the cope has well and truly already begun.

There’s been so much actual psychosis about this console online, like how the snooze deck would kill it or Mario kart would flop. Really funny to see all that after the launch. I’m not super ultra hyped to buy one or anything but I might once I have the cash. Anyway here’s a meme that I found online. The le thing I did… that was outlined in TOS… Nintendo why am I banned??

Terms of Service cucks are the worst form of consoomers.

Not to call upon /v/ sperging, but they are right in saying this game feels gay and women safe. It is every modern le quirky characteristic, purple/pink lighting and overly animating everything = soul.
They're clearly trying to find the widest appeal possible instead of making something cool. They want kids, women, and Disney adult/Redditors to play it more than men.

You should be ashamed that you are a thief, regardless of the reason.
It's neither legally nor morally considered theft, though piracy is illegal and arguably potentially immoral.

The complaint is that the Nintendo game with the cartoon monkey is too colorful and cheery and not edgy enough.

Having an idea if it will flop or not is still a good six months away (especially when it comes to Christmas), then you can start making comparisons like comparing Switch 1 sales by late 2017, what Mario or Zelda will look like, etc.

Metroid Prime 4 is a tossup since Metroid games have never done well in Japan and I don't think Retro Studios has it in them anymore.

Honestly of the Rare games, only DKC 1 and 2 had a cohesive art direction, 3 was so-so, enemies designs were way more silly, the Bear Brothers and Banana Birds felt that they were trying a "children's adventure" approach to that title but still worked most of the time, meanwhile on DK 64 we were stuck with stuff like this:
I wouldn't be surprised if those were leftovers from Twelve Tales: Conker 64.

If you really think about it, between GBA ports, virtual console and Nintendo Online, the SNES has like, zero exclusive first party games.
Super Punch-Out!! (SNES). Got Virtual Console re-releases but the 3DS and Wii shops are now dead. Not on Nintendo Online.

We can hold two thoughts at the same time. I understand Nintendo has to discourage piracy as a business, that doesn't mean giving them the legal right to soft-brick a console is something I have to like or tolerate, and frankly just makes me want to pirate their games more out of spite.

How much fucking money have they printed over the last decade again? Why should I be cheering on them encroaching further and further on the consumers ability to tinker with a piece of hardware they paid for? What am I saying, I'm in the Nintendo thread, clearly that's something that is cheered on.

Funny, because the developers have said that the enhanced environmental destruction and interaction was only possible thanks to the extra power the Switch 2 provided them with.

t. retard that probably fell for Sony's "only possible with the power of the PS5's SSD" pitch

they're marketing the new console dumbass, obviously they're not gonna go "Yah obviously it looks great on Switch 2, but you know it ram pretty well on the Switch 1 development kit we were working with too!"

No one thinks they are, no one expects them to, no system in history other than Switch 1 has done those numbers, not even the PS2 which had to trickle out consoles to third-worlders for an extra five years to get to the same level. You think that means Nintendo is in trouble, nobody else does, you think that four or five (Pokemon marches to its own drum) major titles in a year is a bad pace, nobody else does, especially if that year only has 7 months. Go back and compare this to any home console other than Switch 1 or NES (which, once again, cheated and had two years of Famicom releases to call upon) and its blatantly obvious that this is a great first party line-up for the year.

Interesting how after 8 years of "the switch is weaker than a ps2!" (a claim I've heard said completely unironically hundreds of times), suddenly it's super duper powerful when it comes to whether or not switch 2 games could run on it? I'm gonna keep harping on this point, but the ps5 was such an insignificant jump in power compared to the ps4, let alone the ps4 pro, that quite a few crossgen games in the first couple years ran at a LOWER framerate on the ps5 version. Sure, the switch completely shit itself whenever you try and build something in totk, but it can definitely handle the more complex physics and terrain destruction simulations in bananza, no problem!

Can't wait for someone to EPIC DEBUNK me and say if they just ran it at 480p (240p undocked), dropped the framerate down to 30*fps, turned off 90% of particles, added 3 minute loading screens to each layer, and ran a version of the world with more pre-baked destruction points rather than the freeform nature of the switch 2 game, it could totally still work on switch 1!
*30fps entirely theoretical, runs in the mid 20s on average, with drops as low as 10 while destroying terrain, even lower undocked

People don't merely say rift ashart could have run on a ps4 because the ps5 was such a pitiful increase in power, they say it because despite the shoddy optimization of the steam port, it runs decently on rigs at a similar power to a ps4 with zero ssd. Regardless of what you think of the price, regardless of what you think of the games, regardless of whether or not it matches a ps5, the switch 2 is objectively a more than significant jump in power over the switch 1. If this wasn't donkey kong and was some random 3rd party multiplat with terrain destruction physics and otherwise identical graphics and technology and it was skipping the switch 1, not a SINGLE one of these people would be arguing that the switch 1 could run it without problems.

Destructible terrain in a platformer is always bad. Either it makes no difference since the devs just plate the puzzles with indestructible terrain while making the puzzles that require destruction extremely railroaded, so the whole thing is superfluous, or the player can pretty much tunnel his way across every puzzle.

Also if you support a company bricking your device/completely banning you from an online-only device for any reason then you are a corporate shilling faggot that likes it when corporations fuck him in the ass. Go post on Reddit instead.
There were a video who watched japanese review of game freak as a company. Many issue were pointed in it, I wonder if nintendo as a whole is affected as well
Sounds like the usual Black Company. It's an issue to even quit those because they will absolutely fuck your future prospects to show the people remaining there why they shouldn't do the same.

Ok.
Behold, the Nintendo Shitcube.
GameCube-Console-Set.webp
Within its first two months it got:

s-l1200.webps-l400.webpRogue_squadron_2_Box.webp81aYw6giiHL.webpSuper_Smash_Bros_Melee_box_art.webp

Remember, two months.

Now, cast your gaze upon the Shit 2.
nintendo-switch-2-online-ban-mig.webp

Within its first two months it got/is getting:
kart.webpwelcome.webpkong.webp

And by the end of the year it's getting a whole two games!

warrior.webpriders.webp

Truly, what a great lineup to satiate the Nintendo gamers for the rest of the year. Maybe five years from now I'll be able to play the fourth rehash of Star Fox SNES!
