the only reason I don't shop at aldi is because there are some things that they just don't have, and there are a couple of grocery stores nearby where I can get all my shopping done in one trip.

I actively cripple myself by stripping gplay out of every phone I get. I also hook up to adb and manually delete all the bloatware that you "can't delete" from the phones software manager section. There used to be a great app from F-Droid that took control of the mic and camera and made it loopback to 0 just so other apps couldn't secretely access it.
