the population of saudi arabia is much more islamist than that of iran, you are right in that regard, but the regime is not. the saudis foreign policy is mostly pragmatic, trying to do what's best for the state and the family that rules it.Isn't Saudi Arabia still a lot more strict than Iran? If you go beyond their closed-off wannabe Dubai cities or ventures.
based talichadsIran has women in elected office while the Taliban doesn't let women leave the house.
yes the afghan population is much more islamist than the iranians, their way of life reflects that, and while the taliban regime are obviously really hardcore islamists, they mostly care about internal afghan business and do not seem to take much interest in global affairs.
they were like that during their first time in power too, it was just mullah omars autistic obsession with pashtun traditions (a host must shelter guests under his roof from any who would persecute them, which to omar meant he had to shelter bin laden in his country and not allow the americans to take him) that made them a target for the burger army in 2001. they decided that sheltering and defending americas most wanted enemy was a good hill to die on, if they had given him up instead they would probably have remained in power for many decades, uninterrupted.
