But a boat that got hit 50 fucking years ago in a friendly fire incident in the middle of a warzone at a time when naval hailing relied on HF and morse code is such a nothing burger if you know anything about naval combat.
The pilots saw the US markings on the ship, told their commanders that it was american and were ordered to fire anyway.
What does Iran have that could close the Strait that we can't counter is the real question. Is it something that magically makes the Strait closed that we can't do anything about?
Being able to remember things that happened more than 5mins ago is apparently impossible for most people

I am pretty surprised by how many of my evangelical friends and family are only half-heartedly supporting America's attack on Iran, if not outright opposing it. One "we should support God's chosen people" Gen X'er has done a complete 180 in the past year and now thinks Israel is run by Satan and that modern Jews are demon-possessed. She fully believes America is run by Israel. She's begun to "notice" how often degenerate agendas are pushed by Jews in politics and academia and journalism. She's bought a copy of the Talmud to read and study. She got into a fight with her family over the strikes on Iran last night, the first time she's ever brought up these recent views to her family.

Another "God's chosen people" person said, "Well I think the Jews are close to God's heart but I don't think we should support everything they do and I think a lot of our pro-Israel politicians do more harm than good in the Middle East." This person is a Boomer.

Several of these folks told me they've been studying the effects of dispensationalism and the Scofield Bible in recent months/years and no longer support Israel or think Jews are super special. I don't think I have spoken to a single evangelical under the age of 40 who buys the "God's chosen people" line.

I'm not surprised Trump threw his weight behind Israel and bombed Iran. I am surprised at how many normie Christians aren't supporting it. Give me rainbows but I find it a little white pilling tbh.
Unthinking Israeli love is a Boomer Evangelical thing, the younger generations are more open to being realistic about the whole think. Also related, the Boomers love the concept of the Rapture because it's the ultimate Boomer-Style end of the world. They get to skip out on the consequences of the world they allowed to happen, it's very Boomer coded, so bringing about the return of Christ is a think they'd be interested in.

A thing to remember though is that Iran isn't some innocent bystander in all this. A lot of the casualties in our Iraq misadventure were caused by Iranian produced and supplied weapons, they've been waging a proxy war against various parts of the West through terrorist organizations, and Team Blue is directly responsible for giving them billions of dollars they then used for that purpose and probably nuclear development. We have reasons, apart from Israeli ones, to smack the Iranians in the dick. Also, it is in our interests to occasionally remind the rest of the world that we do still have a big stick, even if it might not be what it used to be.

I have a feeling there's a lot of Chinese generals with somewhat puckered assholes right now, very concerned about a particular dam.

They gunned down the lifeboats as well, according to the survivors. This was no accident, it was no incident. It was an act of war, and they got away with it.
It would be like somebody telling you in your youth not to like nintendo because the japanese attacked pearl harbor, you just wouldn't care.
Japan was repaid with immediate invasion, firebombing campaigns, and the honor of being the first country to have nuclear weapons deployed against them. Israel was repaid with unlimited free money and our unwavering support in all of their future endeavors.
Not to suck israel off too hard but

Yes, and what do you think happens when you pack up your catapults and leave?

I seriously wonder what you think the point of 'staying around' in the sandpits in the original foreverwars was, or what regime change is actually attempting to accomplish.

I can promise you the answer to that is the same reason you would see it happen here to a country of ninety million people.
Our mistake was trying to nation build and introduce democracy to a people who didn't want it.
Our mistake was trying to play politics and sponser militants that became the terrorists of tomorrow.
Our best option is to use our air superiority to level their leadership, cripple their military infrastructure and let whoever is left of the 90 million locals pick up th pieces, be it as a unified Iran or a collection of warlord states.

That would accomplish the goals of preventing Iran from being a player in the ME, without the need for a forever war.

What does Iran have that could close the Strait that we can't counter is the real question. Is it something that magically makes the Strait closed that we can't do anything about? More taking us to small claims court? Ever since this started Iran has been abandoned by everyone that was, in theory, on their side, and have been flailing relatively ineffectively ever since, so why are people still assuming that there's some secret hyper-competent Iranian response coming?

Oh, they fired ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv? Great, what exactly has that accomplished for them? Has it stopped the Israelis from shitting on them? Has it moved Iran out of the status of The Raped? This time, the consequences will be different?
The Iranians have a lamp with one wish left and it’s flying carpets are battle ready.
Welp, guess we bombing harder now. How long before boots on the ground becomes necessary? I give it two weeks.

I unironically think Trump would nuke Iran before he would put boots on the ground.

No way. Banning him was great. He should be thread banned from more threads.
Threadbanning Catch the Rainbow was a mistake. Look at the trash that runs in to go apeshit over relatively nothing now.
That guy has to be one of the dumbest Jews I’ve ever seen. His hasbara is hopeless and his pilpul pathetic. Dude just isn’t cut out for volunteer JIDF duty, he should be picking olives on a kibbutz or something instead.

"The last 30 times we tried this it didn't work but...it just will this time okay!?"

You did not respond to the point, nor even attempt to, so I'll posit it to you again. What do you think:
the point of 'staying around' in the sandpits in the original foreverwars was, or what regime change is actually attempting to accomplish
because it's as I said, the same exact reason it'll end the same way this time if Israel doesn't take this as 'enough' for their purposes. Since they apparently have some form of leverage (copies of the Epstein tapes most likely) that allows them to control our government's actions abroad to this extent.

Good lord I'm tired of my social media feed getting flooded with "omg guys WW3 oh my god its so over what are me and my family going to dooooo"

It shows you the geopolitical intelligence of the average voter. WW3 with who nigga? Yeah, Russia is totally going to going to declare war on the US over Iran, and we all know the great totally real Chinese-Iranian defensive pact will be activated.

I mean, direct war with Iran would be terrible, don't get me wrong...but ffs it's not WW3.

Do these people have memories of a goldfish? Trump did this with his first term and made an Iranian general meet Allah.

Also wtf could Iran even do realistically? The worst thing they could possibly do is orchestrate a massive terrorist attack on US soil, or more likely do what they did the last time which is sperg fire some more missiles and go "alright we're done"

However, if I'm wrong and war does happen I declare I shall wear a burgersuit until the end of Trump's presidency.
If it involves the US, it's ww3, the burgers have not seen even a taste of war that seriously effects them for too long. That's why they're all fat, lazy and overconfident.

There's no chance in hell that we're ever going to strike the Three Gorges Dam in a non WW3 scenario. If it ever did get destroyed it would lead to the deaths of millions of bugmen and affect the lives of hundreds of millions. That would be tantamount to a nuclear strike on China and would lead to a total mutually assured destruction scenario to both America and China.

Wow, a contextless chart. What, exactly, am I looking at and how, exactly, does this show we can't cornhole the Iranians?

Do tell me who you think you're speaking for when using this word, because the specifics are rather pertinent to this conversation.

Because you sure as fuck aren't given license to include me in your 'we', just for sharing the same country of origin.
Calm your autistic tits, the context in this case is We is America in the geopolitical sense, not the individual person sense. You can have whatever belief and opinion you want. If you don't like what America is doing geopolitically, what are you going to do about besides autistically sperg out on a gossip forum?

2 weeks to flatten the curve.
All I know is all the thread tourists are shrieking it's two more weeks to another forever war, while the administration is flat out saying we aren't sending soldiers to Iran. Who do I believe? The president and his vice president or online retards who want to troll Trump supporters?

Where do you think all these Iranians are going to go when Israel turns the entire middle east into bombed out, chaotic shithole run by roving warlords
Maybe we shouldn't take them in this time... If we had actual leaders that look out for the country they governed that wouldn't be a problem at all. The problem is that in countries like Germany or France, the electorate keep getting cucked by the established liberal political class which also control the media. Both the AfD and the Front National should have won the last parliamentary elections in these countries. If these parties were in power, as they should, this argument wouldn't even apply.

Gen X'er has done a complete 180 in the past year
It's just because it's a military action. A huge percentage of Gen Xers are against anything that seems like war. They're obsessed with the star trek vision of the future and still think that all other countries are good boys who just want to be given a chance to come into the modern world and if the west disarmed itself we would all get along peacefully and build multicultural spaceships where we do heckin' science and live for 500 years.

It seems a good amount are being redpilled based on the 2024 exit polls though.
