I'm going to help your austistic ass square this circle:Iran is a theocracy to be fair though, they’re by definition motivated in part by ideology.
That said, even as someone who knows more than the average non-Muslim about Muslim theology and scripture, I’m not entirely clear why the destruction of Israel and the West has taken on such a religious dimension. I understand the historical reasons for it, but it seems like they used religion as a tool to motivate that historical conflict, and eventually even the leadership got caught up drinking their own kool-aid.
Can anyone more knowledgeable on this issue explain it to me? Jews and Christians are “people of the book,” it seems like if anything Iran should motivate its animus to Pagan or Atheist nations, like India or China.
The theology is an EXCUSE for their actions, not the reason behind them.
