Trump himself, while I did vote for him might be one of the weaker parts of his own administration. He really made some good staffing choices.
The prevailing wisdom being discussed is that Trump made lousy choices during his first term, and it played a part in his being hamstrung in terms of what he could and did accomplish (or fail to do). It seems as if he's learned from that first term experience to assemble a better staff this time around.
Why do these people feel entitled to enter prisoner housing facilities?
Can a rep or senator stroll into a federal supermax, flash their congressional ID, and take a self-guided tour?
I think it' s equal parts of virtue signalling and "Do you know who I am?" flexing.
For the former, they can say they're trying to visit their "constituents" but the big bad opposition party won't let them because they're meany heads who violate the constitution just by exiting.
For the latter, they have an inflated sense of self-importance and feel they can wield their political influence anywhere and get favors and/or preferential treatment.
Truth be told, I wouldn't trust them on the inside, either, for fear they would cause trouble or encourage/abet an escape by the detainees.
I'm really getting so pissed off at these FAGGOT congressmen who've been doing jackshit all year long and refuse to pass any real legislation! Fucking pass the bill already niggers for fuck sake.
They'd rather keep their cushy politician job than actually vote on legislation that might upset someone in their district and cause them to lose their seat.
JFC, this is still going on? I understand that these people might be too deadbeat to have jobs, but are you telling me they don’t have a single other thing they could be occupying their time with?
These are the NEETs who likely get paid by dark money
to be full time protestors. The same thing happened in Trump's first term and they were put into storage during Biden's term to be used in the future - which is now.
This isn't a bad thing, Fagin Newscum. You think it's going to trigger some jealousy in Trump, it's clear this term he's been told that when his staff does well it makes him look good.
I guess Newsome doesn't remember how Hilary acted as if she ran the country when Bill was president and lobbied congress hard to pass various legislative items. There's nothing inherently wrong wth someone having a take charge attitude with their position so long as it's supported by superiors.
Wait, are we past the TACO thing already? That didn't last long. It's hard to keep up wth the leftist gotchas they try.
These folks have a shorter attention span than the life span of a fish fly. Blink one's eyes and they will move on to whatever the next talking point is to screech about.
Portland, OR looks like a war zone.
Spoiler: It's
been a war zone for quite some time. Someone I know in the PNW admitted to me they purposely avoid the downtown city areas as much as possible because they're way too unsafe for the average person trying to mind their own business.
They launched fireworks and shined lasers in officers’ eyes to temporarily blind them.
This makes me MATI... Anyone doing that needs to be restrained and have lasers aimed at their eyes to see how fun they think it really is.
Iran hit an Israeli hospital and the Israelis are calling it criminal
Israel has no room to talk. Pot, meet Kettle.
Not only is it an act, but it's a profoundly insulting one because you know she acts stupid because she thinks other black people behave like that.
The woman can say the dumbest things in the world but as long as she never gets her constituents upset she can just keep doing it and face little to no political consequences.
I think it's that psychological effect in action where people will act silly if that's the expectation - real or perceived - for the setting. She may be educated, but her constituency's lowest common denominator is thugs and hood rats, so she behaves in the way she feels will appeal most to them and keep them voting for her as she wants control of that seat.
Oklahoma Pride alliance says they've lost hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate sponsors due to new DEI policies.
DEI was only popular with corporations as long as it was required and supported by the government. The new administration has de-emphasized and discouraged DEI for its own sake and companies have adjusted accordingly - especially since companies dislike spending money that has minimal ROI attached to it. I still remember posts here a year ago showing how much pride merchandise was left over on shelves because the novelty and thrill of pride month has faded for all but its most diehard supporters.
More to the point, the Oklahoma Pride Alliance should have to market itself to get donations like any other charitable organization has to these days. Money is tight al across the board these days, so people are going to donate what little is available to where they feel it will do the most good. If a charity can't do that, they won't be in business very long.
You have to make compromises, but I can’t help but think that it’s another pork filled disaster.
Sadly, every good-intentioned bill falls victim to special interests and pork projects because lobbyists and politicians need ot include something that appeals to their voter base so they can stay in office. It
shouldn't be that way, but this is the reality of politics.
The market prices will go down - what won't is the county's assessed value of my home. Bought it for $119,000 in 2019. They think it's worth $250,000 now.
Locales hate having to lower assessed/taxable values and do so very begrudgingly. Yet, they have no problem raising those values higher than inflation when allowed by law. My city saw property values plummet in the early 2000s during the recession - prompting a ballot drive to keep public safety funded adequately "on a temporary basis." Property values naturally went back up and the city still claims the millage is needed and has zero intent of phasing it out when the truth is they enoy the higher tax revenue that comes with higher property assessments.
Unrestrained by a sense of shame or any hope of achieving self-respect, Democrat pols submerse themselves ever deeper into a morass of normal people’s contempt for them.
The Dems have hitched their wagons to the oppression narrative and have no plans to decouple any time soon.
Padilla has to realize barging in on a Federal person such as Noem during a press conference is bad optics and a good way to be treated as someone with hostile intentions - especially when the current president was targeted for violence at least twice during last year's campaign trail. Instead, he makes himself out to be the victim who shouldn't be held accountable for his own bad decision making. There were all sorts of ways he could have initiated or requested dialog with Noem; what he did wasn't one of the right ways to go about it.
Something happened in Wayne Michigan in the past hour. Wayne is 11 miles from Dearborn, one of the rapefugee capitals of America. Someone drove their truck into a church then opened fire, security guard shot and killed him. Video from inside the church when it happened, nothing on video:
NGL, when I first heard the gunshots in the stream, I thought it was a drum rimshot coinciding with the speaker finishing her sermon/speech. Once I realized what it was (about the same time the congregation did), the horror in everyone's reaction was apparent.
Despite the mention of nearby Dearborn, Wayne is still a suburb of Detroit. Like many of those surrounding Detroit, its demographics have been shifting for quite some time as evidenced by its school population and what institutions have closed over the years because of who does and doesn't live in the city any more. As sad is it is, this kind of thug violence happening there isn't that surprising either; it's simply spilling over from adjacent areas that have had their own problems for years.
Props to the deacon and security guard for their action against the assailant and keeping him from inflicting more carnage than he deserved to.
