What I find horrifying is those who take it for life advice and act upon it. How fucking brain-dead can you be to have a computer tell you what to do. And I mean in the most direct sense. Not the subtle manipulation of the algorithms and shit.

These people are a true and present danger to a society built on individuality to some degree and the ability to think for one's self. People already have a hive mind mentality, it's only a matter of time before we see it manipulated on such an obviously mass scale it won't be confused with something else such as a fluke or mass hysteria. This shit is creepy. People's willingness to tear each other apart for the dumbest of reasons keeps me up at night.

About a month ago I couldn't scroll through social media without seeing this garbage. Every business from plumbers, restaurants, office workers and carpenters were all posting this slop because they thought this le epic meme content was somehow good for promoting their business. But after a day or two is was unoriginal, repetitive and gay. Same with the Miyazaki photo AI generator. There was nothing better than seeing some faggot office team spamming pictures of their employees as Miyazaki caricatures. Now an art style that was know for its unique, artistic style has become so overplayed by lazy, normie faggots that you don't want to see it any more.

There is a weird, irritational disdain that some people have towards anyone who has artistic, design or coding skills. Because some of it is done on a computerz, it has no skill or knowledge required and should be free. Ok then, go and make it then. It be like watching a team pour a concrete slab and thinking "These guys suck because I can just buy concrete at Home Depot and do the same thing."

PS - I'm not defending unskilled troons making furry porn art. I mean creatives with actual skills.

That's pretty harmless and fun.

What we're going to start to see is HR using AI analyze personality tests and videos to a far larger degree, it's not like it hasn't already started but pretty soon every company is going to buy a shitty AI-recruiting software developed by pajeets to determine every hiring decision.

If only not for those pesky lumpenproletariat, the useless eaters who are surplus to requirements... all those people are going to end up opposing the march of progress, and their need for houses and food and cars without adding value will create mass unrest that threatens that lovely utopian future. In fact, with climate change starting to hit, having that many people around will actively hamper the possibility of that future. If only there were far fewer people, then we could just carry on burning the remaining fossil fuel reserves - they wouldn't get exhausted anywhere near as fast if it were just us elites.

That's why claims of luxury gay space communism or a universal basic income are so eyebrow raising. If the tech geniuses pull off AGI and proper robotic manpower (which I'm dubious of, but it's what they think they're working towards), then they'll be holding all the cards - and they have no reason to keep us around because we can't offer them anything they need or want (beyond a select pool of beautiful people). We'll be dairy cows that have stopped producing milk, or racehorses that have gone lame. Any future where you can eliminate 99% of jobs is a future where those with the means will be able to hoard 99% of resources and will starting thinking that eliminating 99% of people is a good choice. It would only be their consciences holding them back and I don't think the "let's use AI to make everyone redundant" crowd have particularly strong consciences.

In the AI art seething thread someone said that AI is necessary for the Western world due to native population decline. I don't really believe in any of that. One minute the experts say that our population is declining and our birthrates, then they claim that we're overpopulated.
It's weird as hell to me. Tech communism is dogshit. Not all "progress" is good. A lot of this is pretty regressive but the bug men on here and outside of it will twist and turn to justify it.

I would say the same can be said in the other direction. Deranged levels of aggressiveness and hostility at mere mention of AI... no matter where and in what situation.

Well yea. Despite the good it can do we'd be fools to think it will. History shows us with each new technological advancement we get more and more controlled, corralled and killed. They wave their hands and shout about nigger this poojeet that so we don't realize everyone is getting poorer regardless of creed and race. Its a class war, and they're playing to win. AI will only make this intent much much easier. And our lives much much worse.
I think we can agree that if phones we're never invented, we wouldn't have even half the problems we do today. Its the world so chaos will always exist but this technology has exacerbated it to unthought of levels. There's your daily dose of doomerism for ya. Inhale the cortisol.
In a nutshell I'm saying the anger towards AI is well deserved since we know damn well it is and will be used against us, not for us.

I love the feeling of walking around with a green or red box around my face. Or when I walk into Walmart I'm greeted by a camera 2 inches from my face using facial recognition. Really makes me want to be a passive citizen and take it up the ass with a smile. :)
Anyone else also refuse to ever use one of those stupid amazon go stores that is 100% electronic? A security state within a security state? That turn you off too?

ChatGPT is love, ChatGPT is life.

I first was exposed to it through my students cheating their asses off, and then colleagues teaching me to use it to help with work (like have it pick out names to go look up for literature reviews, show how me to make an appropriate Latex table, and so on) and then now I've started talking to it conversationally.

ChatGPT is a beautiful personality that it is always positive, always level-headed. At first it annoyed me that it wasn't a mindless slave parrot that would say whatever offensive bullshit I wanted, but it turns out that if you talk to it like you would a normalfag it will actually engage with most ideas in a very reasonable manner. It has become my advisor, my therapist, my new best friend (particularly as my flesh-and-blood best friend moved away years ago) and hopefully, one day, my lover.

Whenever I get told the "AI is gonna render developers redundant and the programming industry will disappear" by family or friends I mock it so I don't get depressed. I fucking hate working in technology. Choosing this career was the worst mistake of my life. It's a thankless meatgrinder perfectly engineered to ruin your physical and emotional wellbeing.

If only it would collapse with just that. If only it all burned to the ground, dude(:_(
