If the United States or Israel were to force regime change it would be perceived as foreign-imposed and illegitimate, likely fueling nationalist backlash and unifying Iranians, even discontented ones, against external aggression. By contrast, allowing the current ceasefire to hold while the IRGC is weakened and public anger is at a boiling point gives the Iranian people ownership of the moment.
This opens the door for an organic, homegrown uprising—one driven by national pride rather than foreign agendas.

In this scenario, the fall of the regime would be seen as authentic, empowering Iranians to reclaim their country and pursue their own vision of a free and prosperous Iran.

The can chose between religious isolationism or make Iran great again by overthrowing their weakened overlords.

This was a move I never saw coming, but it might be Trumps smartest to date.

The Qing Empire had exactly zero influence on anywhere outside of the immediate area of East Asia and even that was very tenuous, and was completely eclipsed in technology and power projection by the great powers of Europe and even arguably Japan by the time it fell, it isn’t analogous at all.

For the sake of peace it would be nice if a ceasefire happened but there is a good chance there will be more violence between Iran and Israel in the not so distant future. The existential threat remains and no permanent solution to their clash has been achieved just yet. The fact an end to hostilities is up in the air right now and no one seems quite sure what will happen next is rather concerning.

It might be another trap for Iran. Trump declares that he brokered a ceasefire, Israel and Qatar go along with it, and then Iran attacks seemingly unprovoked. They're so diplomatically isolated already, who's going to believe them except for the most retarded western lefty?

You're right, not a very good example, but at this point what country are even in America's real sphere-of-influence anymore, besides the Pacific countries that need an ally against China? America, like the Qing have taken on isolationism as a core doctrine possibly to their own detriment.
Also right that America's military power projection is still undoubtedly the best in the world, but other fading powers have been militarily successful even while domestically, they were a mess.
