At it's current pace not really. Doomposting aside, the early days of season's two and three in particular are known for the near endless amount of content being produced. Not even trying to critique season four here, but I don't think it's topped them in the same timespan.
Any season that starts with Burt, Alex B, a perfect heel Indian, and an amazing gaslight with actual production value is immediately going to top whatever comes after.
In comparison to previous seasons, this one has admittedly been half-assed. It's had good moments for sure, but that's par for the course because Fishtank is a good concept. The majority of big challenges haven't been unique and have been rehashed from previous seasons. Sam hasn't even tried playing a character. There is no theme. Production has been way less involved. Gaslights have been far less effective because everyone is a fan. It really does feel like Fishtank running through the motions.
There have been blunders this season, Jin's elimination being the most obvious example. While the cast started off strong I think the pacing of eliminations has been far to quick for an eight man season. The more fish are eliminated the less dynamics there are, the less potential you have for a gaslight taking hold on somebody, and the less variety for audience enjoyment.
A lot of season left, and I'm hoping the twist around week two will finally give it something to stand on, but for now this season has been sub-par. Recency bias is a hell of a drug.
Edit: also, doomposting has been a part of every season now. It quite literally is Fishtank at this point. It's not going away anytime soon. Rape Jet.
