"Current year" terms that piss you off

I'm not trying to be pedantic but your way of knowing something (epistemology) is different than the thing you know (knowledge). Traditional cultures learn and teach things a lot differently than modern ones. I like the idea of "two-eyed seeing" which is basically synthesizing traditional indigenous knowledge and modern scientific knowledge.
Let me tell you how I'm experiencing this term in the realm of science education.

With the new standards (NGSS) there was a push to go beyond the rigid "scientific method". Fair enough, scientists don't follow a cookbook to conduct experiments and I was fine with teaching that actual science can be far more complicated - as long as we still included instruction in common terms of experimentation.

Little did I know that this would be the beginning of the erosion of science education. In my opinion it's perfectly fine to teach the scientific method to kids. Who is going to be so retarded that they can't expand their understanding of how science really works if they end up working as a scientist in adulthood?

Next thing you know the fucking National Science Teachers Association is regularly publishing about "other ways of knowing" and it's a move to honor indigenous knowledge as well as how other cultures understand their world. Why would you want to do this? Because after decades of failing to find enough BiPOC who were instrumental in the fundamentals of science, they're just going to scrap science altogether. Far too many concepts are thanks to white dudes and it's absolutely impossible to deny it.

I'd go into more about what's going on but it would be an essay of limited impact to a very small audience here. Suffice it to say that like so many other things, post modernism has used the bleeding hearts as a wedge to undermine the best tools for understanding our world and actually solving the problems of humanity.

Agreed, students should be taught and ideally have a working mental model of the scientific method. Big fan of the scientific method. I think that if we don't start focussing on teaching literacy (media, math, and science included), as well as broad critical thinking skills, we're cooked. There's so much information, let alone mis-, that the tools to cut through it are taking precedence over anything else in particular. The doomer in me thinks the damage is done. But that's not very helpful.

I'm not familiar with the specific organization or their execution of this, but I'm struggling to see what's inherently wrong with it.

I hate when Liberals call Conservatives "right wingers". Mainly because of how lame an attempt at an insult it is.
"Rightoid" is an insult, "right winger" just sounds descriptive. Obviously my politics skew a little left of the average around here so maybe I don't hear it the same, maybe it's said pejoratively?

They are THE major purveyor of science education curriculum resources and professional development in the US. In my opinion "other ways of knowing" are things that are expressly not science and therefore do not belong in science education. It could be argued that "other ways of knowing" has some value in an academic setting, but k-12 ain't it. Kids already struggle with the basics of science, no need to muddy the waters by baking in alternatives into general education courses.

I'm sure it's been posted before, but the phrase "Bi-erasure" annoys the hell out of me. Stfu, no one cares who you find sexually attractive. Why is your sexuality so fucking important to you? Unless I'm trying to enter into a relationship with you I can't imagine why I would ever want to know that your bisexual. Everyone knows bi people exist, why do you need to be acknowledged?

I've always considered "rightoid" to be an attempt at an insult but it always falls flat outside of lefty hug boxes. No right wing person has ever been offended by being called "righty" or "rightoid". Like straights aren't offended by being called "straightoids" or whites aren't offended by being called "cracker".
Whereas for me and a lot of others growing up, "liberal" was a dirty word. My dad never swore much, but most of the time if I ever heard him say "fucking" it was followed by "liberals" as in "those fucking liberals!" when he thought I couldn't hear him.
Anti right wing slurs don't land as well it seems.
Left can't meme, or slur properly I suppose. That's why "dirtbag left" was an important part of the left wing strategy, it made them relatable, but it got sanitized away. The left literally disarmed themselves because "dirtbag left" was too edgy and offensive, and that's why there will never be that "left wing Joe Rogan" leftists today are so desperate for. They chased those people to the Right.

Since I was talking about the NSTA (Natl' Science Teachers Assoc.) earlier in this thread, let me tell you about the last NSTA conference I went to.
At the hotel pool I was accidentally eaves dropping on the hot tub conversation going on amongst some teachers from Michigan. A middle-aged science teacher had put down her copy of This Book is Gay to talk about how she feels it's her duty to represent the bisexual community so that her bisexual students feel seen, but she struggles because she is married to a man and has children.
When I used to teach I would feel embarrassed to even reference my own very normal family when lecturing on reproduction and genetics. How in the hell do you work in talking about how you experimented in college into your chemistry class Jennifer? I really hate these people.

Why? No seriously, why do people think (most) teenagers in any era thought of their teachers as anything other than just another adult they had to take orders from? Talking about their personal sexuality would be weird af in a college classroom but any younger and it just screams “I’m a groomer!”

It makes me long for the days of having a crusty and mean math teacher who waited until the last day of school to tell us about how he almost lost his foot when he was working manufacturing as a young man, and then the gory details on how they stitched it all back together thanks to one lone tendon still being intact. If an adult is going to over share it should be infrequent and horrifying.

Back in the day ('80s), when I wore an onion on my belt as was the custom of the time, actual lesbians would refer to these phonies as "LUGs," that is, "Lesbian Until Graduation." It was just a way of dodging retarded fratboy types.

review bombing

Before Current Year, if some movie bombed at the box office, it was because it sucked. Now if a movie bombs, producers may blame the fail on "bigotry" and claim the majority negative reviews are "review bombing", if the purpose of such a movie is to push "social justice" BS. Claiming that any who do not like crappy movies is a "bigot" seems new.

and claim the majority negative reviews are "review bombing"
It's in the same vein as a lot of bigger social media names/celebrities referring to all negativity about them/their opinions as "trolling." If the reaction to them is overwhelmingly positive then it's just the plebians recognizing their greatness and superiority. If the plebians are critical of them then it's actually just a case of those damn dirty trolls (and incels, of course) crawling out of their parents' basement to fuck with them, daring to not kiss their feet.
