I've seen a few smaller devs on twitter making quips at Pirate Software.
Some Vagueposting some being a bit more forefront about it.

I swear I saw some of the Newblood devs retweet it too but I can't find it.

Idk guys, can this new drama really push this list to the big one-mil? :optimistic:
Little to no chance.

Most are going to already be subscribers to or already aware of the situation with Ross.
Those who are are probably US based / not in Europe.
Those in Europe who are probably already signed.
It'd take a lot of big influencers with EU audiences to pull off a miracle.
It'll maybe get him 1000 more signatures. And that's optimistic.

You guys think there is a way to get Jason to accept a game jam challenge? Like a Dev 1v1.
Insane behavior dude. He has no time for this.
he has a Ferret rescue to run, a show to do, and a game to make!

is skg the new diremaul bois?
skg was the first major fuck he did as a streamer.
its what first got people to notice he wasn't the friendly pro consumer advocate he pretended to be and the double whammy of him being responsible for ashes of creation, a live service game, showed everyone that he is willing to betray his morals for money

dire maul was the most easy to digest way to show how pathetic he was and then for thouse who were curious found all the skeletons in his closet

We need a hero. Someone who has a global influence. Someone who deeply cares about what the internet thinks of him. Someone who just had two big controversies and is probably in panic mode with his PR team right now. Someone who has played video games before.

We need... Jimmy Donaldson

And this is Jason, an ex-Blizzard employee who brags about his "insane coding skills" in every stream

I remember seeing a few of this guy's shorts before the Stop Killing Games thing and I remember he came across as a smug, pseudointellectual fucker, but I had no idea it was this bad. There's people who probably take this guy's confident assertions as actual gospel because he pretends to be an authority on this stuff. Ross Scott, a guy who has never claimed to be an authority on software development, but he actually had a better understanding than this guy of software development pipelines, and this really makes it show.
Why the fuck are game devs so goddamn averse to actually learning how to engineer things? I've seen this exact sort of retarded shit for YandereDev and Toby Fox. Going by the state of the modern games industry, I seriously doubt it gets better at AAA studios. Very grim stuff, a far cry from the sort of engineering you'd see from somebody like Carmack and the other developers at Id working on Doom.
Maybe that's why he was so offended by SKG. Yeah, with code like that, EOL support would come across as an infeasible prospect. I really hope that through some miracle they get those signatures just so this guy has to suffer through his own embarrassing code and figure out how he's going to unfuck it just to sell it in the EU.

We have 40-39 days left, I don't think we're going to turn this ship around, we need more or less half the entire ammount of signatures, at least we get the small ammount of satisfaction of seeing Mald being dragged face first across the asphalt with a rope of his own lies and deceptions.
Still fucking salty about SKG.

I'm sorry, but have either of you taken even one look at the live tracker for the initiative itself?

image-1399.webpimage-398.webp

From the moment that Ross made his video rebuking Mald, the initiative has been surpassing that daily average they'd need to catch up, for the past maybe two or three days. As we speak, while it's still just about late morning in the middle of Europe (assuming UTC+2), about 20 thousand have been added today alone, after just 10 hours of the whole day today.

Screenshot_20250625-090235-862.webp

It has gained a shit-ton of momentum now, and I expect it to pick up the more people cover the topic after Muta, Charlie, that one PC Gamer editor and the like. All it took was for Ross to have finally addressed this fat faggot, and he really should have done that immediately to begin with.

Game developers back in the days were often engineers. Game developers today are not engineers, they are either self-taught (with game engine shit-utorials) or went to some game development program at college. If you are a engineer today, you stay away from game development since it's shitty paid.

Games today are often just a clone of an old game made by the engineers I mentioned before. The old games were inspired by something IRL and the developers tried to translate what ever IRL concept to a screen. Games today are just "inspired" by another game, people imitate stuff they saw on a screen to create something "new" on a screen. This screen to screen "inspiration" is why these modern game developers are retarded, they got no IRL experience and no real technical experience, these kinds are people are by definition losers and are at best in the middle of the bell curve. Video games brings the attraction of uncreative and lazy people (playing games all day), it's doomed to be full of pseudo-intellectuals that can't do anything technical and refuses to learn anything deep enough to be applicable. Not to mention game engines made the entry bar even lower, making it easier for these retards to put out shovelware, so they think because they got some "game-like" thing on a screen, they are now "devs", resulting in their ego also starts to get ahead of them. You can only imagine the ego trip you are going to have if you got all these traits and your dad happened to have a big game studio name on his résumé.

I think its because the guys who can do the stuff are probably doing better jobs getting paid infinitely better.

With video games its a crap shoot if you'll do well or not. Think about how many games probably get released on steam every day. And then how many of those actually make a profit while rest fade into obscurity / making fun of shitty games found on steam youtube compilations.

And those who CAN do it and DO, do it, I don't think they make videos cause it takes a sociopath to make videos about yourself being super smart all day.
It has gained a shit-ton of momentum now,
I hope you're right I really do.
But with a lot of fund raisers and other events. The first few days usually see gigantic spurts and then it slow down immensely.
I'd love to see Mald fume that it passes and he looks like an asshole.

This is pretty spot on. Anybody who goes for a CS degree in practically any school can see it too, after the first semester your classes absolutely contract in size and you notice that of who is remaining, it's typically the people who aren't the game dev hopefuls.
I think I knew about two people from my graduating class who pursued game dev jobs after graduation, one ended up at some mobile game studio, the other... he ended up at EA or some shit, and he was bragging about how he was on the path to Valve for sure now. I think the last time I check in on him via LinkedIn, that job did not last, and he was #opentowork. I have to assume there's a lot of burnout among game devs if they aren't a total retard when it comes to engineering, just considering the types of creatures who seem to inhabit the industry.

Good indie studios are on the rise. It was the main feature of the Summer Games Fest, spotlighting in particular Expedition 33: Clair Obscur. I'm hopeful... but you're right, the major publisher / studio conglomerates like Ubisoft are becoming creatively stagnant.

I can't overstate the amount of genius that man and his team had. They engineered a pseudo-3D vector engine using BSP because the OS they used to develop Doom on didn't have the rendering capabilities. They forced the OS to be capable of rendering things it wasn't meant to do. Poetry.

I think its because the guys who can do the stuff are probably doing better jobs getting paid infinitely better.

Well look where Carmack is these days - not so much in gamedev but a VR consultant for Meta and other whacky black magic. Romero is still and always will be a gamedev at heart. I still haven't played his recently released Doom level... should get around to it.

I think I knew about two people from my graduating class who pursued game dev jobs after graduation

Same, except our degree specialised in gamedev. Out of everyone, I ended up in research and now cybersec, another made experimental indie shit and finished his PhD with the intent to lecture, another works for Audi as a software engineer, another (who was a student of mine during my tenure as a course coordinator) got elevated to an executive producer role for one of the largest studios in the world because they had a relationship with a very prolific CRPG developer 20 years older than them (to their credit, they're quite talented), and the rest are in completely different industries. From a class of around 200.

I remain convinced that you can't teach gamedev. It's weird, I can't explain it. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Yeah, there's good indie games out there for sure, but I really can't see the industry heading for any sort of bright future when it's assholes like this tard who are representing the industry. People who want to learn are going to see his streams and think "oh maybe this guy knows something", but he lives up his own ass. It's one thing to be a shitty dev, but it's another to be so goddamn ignorant while presenting oneself as an authority. If nothing else, I hope that his disgrace here destroys any sort of online authority, it would be a net gain for the industry if would be developers stay far away from anything he has to say.

It's worse. He's very often asked by chatters about gamedev topics, and is quick to direct them to his Discord which is filled with 200,000 insane people.

Then he offers general life advice from special ed graduates donating to TTS with "hey so I just found out my wife's cheating on me, but I'm okay with it and we're moving to California to pursue careers in..." and every fucking time he answers with confidence. Like dude, you're hardly in a position to offer gamedev advice let alone life advice to retards.

and every fucking time he answers with confidence
Not only that, but the advice isn't consistent at all. It is only based on what image of himself is he currently trying to project. He has no opinions, only a wardrobe of idealized online character archetypes he portrays on a day to day basis. I wouldn't have said this solely based on his shorts persona, but now that I've seen his chat logs, he truly appears to be completely disassociated. He is a psyche adrift.
