It's also used by shoplifters to zoom all over a city and steal from many more stores than if they were on foot. A bunch of Walgreens and similar stores in my city have closed for good because of the rampant theft.
What does the logistical situation for a closing Walmart even look like ? Do the owners have insurance on their inventory so that they don’t have to make a complete loss when closing down?
They probably just do a clearance sale and then return the leftover goods to their distribution hubs.

Giant flea market or climate-controlled storage unit building. Those are some of the only businesses you can make out of structures like that and not throw down too much money to do renovations or tear it all down to make space for a strip mall.

Poor people already get fare exemptions/reductions so they don’t care. Free fares would also destroy the quality of buses in poor areas because the homeless will just hang out on them all day and the driver/cops won’t have any power to kick them off.
