I find his logic really fucking funny when he also brags about being a Blizzard employee, the company that made WoW, a game which had probably the earliest and biggest private servers developed for them because people wanted to play the game, even if it wasn't 100% perfect.

Yea in his original response video 10 months ago, he said that companies have every right to gatekeep their "copyright" and not allow the game to be played on private servers, even after the official servers are shut down.

Even if the state is sane and righteous in declaring what's legal and what is illegal, enforcement of the law is still a state monopoly, you simply have no other legal means of appeal or alternatives
So the people begging for the law to change in a good way are placing their hopes in the same institution that used its legal machinery to criminalize modding, outlaw DRM circumvention tools, enforce software monopolies, punish emulator devs, protect DRM under copyright law, hand publishers the enforcement power to remotely revoke access, and so much more. And all of that in a system where enforcement is carried out through opaque bureaucracies, lopsided court cases, and extrajudicial threats where a multibillion dollar company can get state backing to crush some guy hosting a fan server, and yet no consumer has any realistic way to enforce even basic contract expectations without drowning in legal fees and regulatory indifference.

It boils down to "We know the system screws us 100 times over, but there's nowhere else to go, so let's just scream and sob until it fucks us more gently"

The small chance I could see happening is Louis Rossman being a mediator since he's very relevant to the topic and has specifically has been mentioned by Jason as someone acting in good faith; even with that, I think Jason would perceive it as a 2v1 and bow out under that logic. That all said, in the unlikely event Jason talks to someone about SKG it's a small chance he talks to Rossman at all and the debate moderator setup has a fraction of the chance.

Ross is a nice guy, but I have a feeling he's pissed at him enough that he would passively-agressively tear Figboy in half. Maldy has no legs to stand on and everyone hates him, it would be a fantastic stream that would bring even more eyes on the initiative and Keemstar is a clout chasing gnome so of course he would greenlight it.

Certainly, but it adds pressure against using and creating middlewares or tools whose licenses inherently prevent the ability for the game to run after EoL. Given a company has to go through the effort at all, they're much more likely to just do it for everyone as opposed to going through extra effort to region-lock their EoL plan in any meaningful way. For example, The Crew making their game playable offline at EoL to satisfy the EU may as well be doing it worldwide even if the license says it's only supported in the EU.
I could see specific cases where US players get shafted in any way possible when it's to the company's advantage, like a game shutting down in the US earlier than in the EU, or even the other way around. Even in that case, the partial pressure to allow EoL support is, at least to SKG supporters, strictly better than without it even if not perfect.

I remember why I keep putting you on ignore. It is very unlikely that a company is going to make separate products for separate markets. It's why every vehicle you buy has a bunch of California compliant shit. The only reason Steam offers refunds is because of a legal battle in Australia. If they change it to comply with the EU it is almost ceri to change it everywhere. Which you would know if you watched the video where Ross proposed the idea in the first place it read what was on the website

I got mine from YouTube and not Twitch (yt-dlp --live-from-start only works with YT), which may explain the discrepancy.

Also, it seems Twitch may have broken Vod Recovery recently. It would be so funny if us archiving Jason had something to do with it but I wouldn't go that far without any real evidence.
