Yeah, I do think it's potentially a stretch, but on another hand, I feel like if he loses enough of his fans he may actually try and self delude and try to come out as the smart guy who was always holding the strings. I'm not inclined to believe the latter because it implies the existence of hylics who think critically about literally nothing. Twitch is a large place, there's bigger gamer personalities than PirateSoftware. People do get funneled into his channel because, for some mysterious reason, he pops up in the site's recommended section. But if you look into (or just listen to) this guy for a couple minutes, I think even the most docile cattle-person would think "This guy is an arrogant, boring faggot." That's without getting into the gay furry ERP, killing ferrets out of neglect or the enigmatic bathroom gnome.

I know this is sounds like a cliche joke reply in this situation, but I genuinely mean it when I say you may be shocked to the size of his Discord and the state of the average chatter there. There's over 2400 twitch subs and 50,000 people in the server, though the latter could be inflated by drama tourists.

I think the specific way Jason has a community built off of taking in who watch YouTube shorts and want to be game devs and then funnel them into watching the longest-form content possible and hanging out in an immense hugbox Discord server, all policed by a platoon of 10+ salaried jannies, provides the perfect evolutionary pressures to select for astounding retards who wouldn't be put off by Jason's behavior. The accusation gets thrown around a lot, but thinking about it more Jason's social media strategy is a shockingly well-made engine for making a content creator cult.
