Technically Muslims have always had the ability to make their own private Islamic schools where they can teach what they want (with some exceptions and some educational standards) just like Catholic schools, they've just largely chosen not to do it.
Most cities have private Islamic schools now. Even red state cities like Nashville or Little Rock have full private K-12 Islamic education available (sometimes even multiple schools).
