why wouldn't they? civvies can own artillery pieces and fighter jets.I'm wondering if civilians can own illumination flares?
The issue is that there are boomers/older genx types that never want to rock the boat rightwards. Call me delusional, but you are going to see people fighting and voting for radical changes in the future. This is because younger gen-x to gen-z are extremists and have very little to lose. You are going to see more pushes liked the HPA and Short Acts in. If they are brought back in a “$0 tax” form, you are absolutely going to see pushes to end the registry. If they manage to get back in unmolested, you will also see Congress and the Senate start humor ideas like reopening the machine gun registry. The more of the oldfag politicians step in line/retire, the more radical pushes will come.GOPe can't even give gun owners the one thing in the BBB we've been hyped for. It's so fucking tiresome.
With the way things go in the USSA gun owners won't have all their rights restored unless it all collapses™ and the state is physically unable to exert its will on its exhausted and overburdened populace
De facto the NFA has been chipped away at (which is great) but it still shocks me to this day that you can buy a gun legally in one part of the country and be totally fine, only to drive to another part of the country and get thrown in ass-rape prison. I love guns and all but navigating the legal landscape in Weimerica is like trying to eke it out in a schizophrenic madhouse where the least informed craziest person in the room is given the most power and has a chip on their fucking shoulder.
I feel like this was the goal the entire time. They're not comfortable getting stuff off the registry.HPA and SHORT have been introduced to the BBB as neutered, simply removing the tax and keeping the registry intact.

Lol. I knew it would never happen. I hate being pessimistic, but you have one group that wants you disarmed yesterday, and another that wants you disarmed tomorrow. Fucking worthless.HPA and SHORT have been introduced to the BBB as neutered, simply removing the tax and keeping the registry intact.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt in that it was a legitimate effort to get Americans a win as most everything the current administration has done has been a net positive.Lol. I knew it would never happen. I hate being pessimistic, but you have one group that wants you disarmed yesterday, and another that wants you disarmed tomorrow. Fucking worthless.
So then what's the point of the registry if not to keep tabs on who paid their permission slip taxes? I mean I know the answer but legally speaking doesn't it make the whole fucking thing pointless if the reason for enforcement is, "you didn't pay your nonexistent tax on this item"? So now you still have to file a form for suppressors you diy as they're "arms" but they're NFA "arms" which now cost $0 to register to the "$0 tax stamp" registry? I guess I'm just confused on how this makes sense at all now. If they're willing to drop the tax part then how does the stamp part make sense?simply removing the tax and keeping the registry intact.
You and me both, although I'm not optimistic.I hope they get the original HPA and SHORT attached before the BBB goes through in any case.
If the tax becomes $0, the wait time will become indefinite and subject to the ATF. What they would effectively be passing in this current form is a ban on suppressors and NFA items.
The existence of the NFA was upheld by the SCOTUS as a tax registry.HPA and SHORT have been introduced to the BBB as neutered, simply removing the tax and keeping the registry intact.

Sweeping the legs out from under it is certainly one way to look at it but I still think it's rushed band-aid for the sake of pushing it through. The existence of the NFA was upheld by the SCOTUS as a tax registry.
But now it would be a $0 tax? Maybe the SCOTUS would have to reevaluate it then?
Yeah people are pointing it out in reference to everything she's raising the Byrd rule against, that they could just ignore it and she should have been dropped anyway. I've got no idea what's going on but it's a good time for people to ask questions and refuse compromise. The Parlimentarian's rules are non-binding. They can simply be ignored. There is no process required to "overrule" these decisions as they don't carry any actual weight. The Republican party is simply just choosing to go along with it. There's no procedure required.

If they aren't put back into the bill in their original form, I would not be surprised if the FPC & GOA start attacking the NFA with this argument. Still, I would make more sense that the next step would be to strip the registry in the first place via a future bill. The existence of the NFA was upheld by the SCOTUS as a tax registry.
But now it would be a $0 tax? Maybe the SCOTUS would have to reevaluate it then?
If that is true, who the hell is paying him to drag his feet on the matter of the Parliamentarian? This is such an easy win to just toe the line and either ignore/remove the sitting Parliamentarian. The high ranking member of the GOA is in a discord server I'm in and according to him this is basically Thune's doing. He effectively told them that it's this or nothing and they just going for any win they can get at the very least. While also trying to go around Thune and get Vance to intervene on their behalf.
Im not defending thune, that faggot needs to grow a spine, but given how he's been historically he has stepped up at least a little bit, but he's still that same cuckservative that doesn't ever want to rock the boat on something that they have total power to do like... removing the appointed position that your enemy holds and putting an ally in...If that is true, who the hell is paying him to drag his feet on the matter of the Parliamentarian? This is such an easy win to just toe the line and either ignore/remove the sitting Parliamentarian.
