Climate and Energy Policy
Is anyone interested in commenting on how Biden and Trump and their respective administrations have fucked up regarding climate and the environment?
From where I'm standing (fifteen degrees off full Ted K), no U.S. presidential administration has overseen the introduction of meaningful and suitably widespread protection for the environment, nor a comparable response to climate change. It seems to me as though they're very shortsighted and in love with conspicuous, neoliberal Band-Aids.
For example, electric cars are still fucking cars. They have gigantic lithium batteries full of the aforementioned child-labour-mined cobalt. They weigh more than normal cars and are harder on existing infrastructure. They do nothing to mitigate the
expansion of car infrastructure, being cars. None of the problems that come with cars, from poorly laid-out sprawling concrete island heatsink cities, to suburbs around them where half the people are suicidal from spending their lonely lives commuting two hours to and from work every day, not even emissions and global warming, blah blah blah, are solved by electric cars.
A Tesla on the White House lawn is nothing.
Reminder the villain's plot in this episode is the most retarded plan ever. Spreading AIDS awareness so they don't make out with the kid that has AIDS so that the kids then get AIDS from uhhh.... I dunno?
Look, however silly it seems in retrospect, it definitely did make me aware of AIDS and the social stigma around it and that I shouldn't contribute to that prejudice. I remember a scene with a water fountain? Like, the bully kids are like, "Don't drink from that water fountain! The AIDS kid drank from it! We could get AIDS now!" or something?
