Melee is officially dead with Mang0’s ban. For all of his drunken buffoonery and generally fatherless behavior, he was the last holdout among the great players that turned small college tournaments into the biggest, never ending nerd house party of all time.

Guys do stupid shit when they’re drunk. It isn’t right but that’s how it is when you’re gaming with the boys. That attitude and atmosphere was never going to survive when Melee becomes a job and it was really never going to survive making space for women and trannies. For better or worse this is the Last of the Mohicans for male-centric gaming. Memento mori.

For the past several years the smash 'community' has been an utter farce, a fake institution, a fraudulent and damaging control system that has imposed over 500 bans and shadowbans on innocent players. As someone who's met mang0 a few times, I will say that he came off as genuinely funny and not a bad guy. That being said, he's a high school dropout and an alcoholic who built his career off an ancient video game. Unfortunately, the Melee I once knew has become infested with a terminal case of trannies and the GOAT's fate has been sealed for awhile. I'm not going to justify his actions, but what I will say is that everybody around him knew he would behave this way. For fucks sake, the man is called a buster because half the time he was taking shots throughout the tournament until he got sloppy drunk and stomped out by a (more) sober top player. It's one thing to watch Lolcows you're completely detached from like the Ralphamale and Patrick S. Tomlinson get their comeuppance, but it's another feeling altoghether to watch old acquaintances like Hax$ and mang0 go through the ringer. Still not above talking shit tho.

Related, I ran across a clip someone took of Hungrybox's stream when he found out about C9 dropping mang0. He looks like shit and seeing the news, you would think he'd just seen a ghost. He just potentially lost a long-time rival.
