This rowback has come because yesterday Ethan was offering to drop the SeanDaBlack lawsuit if Hasan donated $75k to the GoFundMes of the other people getting sued, insisting he'd use discovery to specify exactly how much had been donated if Hasan wasn't doing so publicly.

This arguably was starting to tip into extortion as Ethan keeps insisting the GoFundMe will eventually be his money, and SeanDaBlack reacted negatively to it too.

So I think this rowback and weirdly written retraction with a date and time is the result of legal advice... in case Hasan still donates $75k, because if that happens after the retraction then Hasan can't claim he was coerced.

Outside of large brands or legacy media companies that can afford to throw their weight around, I'd wager not many. And for good reason, react content is fantastic free marketing. Copyright protections are automatic. The registering of the copyright gets him statutory damages he would otherwise not get. If Ethan didn't register the copyright with the Library of Congress, he'd still have a strong case. The issue is that Twitch has allowed shit like this to go on for a long time, and no doubt Denims, Frogan, and the pothead thought they'd be fine because Twitch wouldn't do anything. They weren't wrong there, but Twitch's lax moderation isn't the arbiter of what is fair use/copyright infringement.
