Trouble is, the other furries don't or won't tell the guy he's acting fucked up. Rainfurrest is a perfect example where the fucked up ones ruined things for everyone else.
A sad reality. It's a case of weirdos thinking they're hypocritical if they call out other weirdos, regardless of how out there the other party is. If anything, this website is proof that a bunch of oddballs can call out other strange people on their shit.
I don't think it's acting out of hypocrisy
The cardinal sin of being overly welcoming and not judging people for their behavior or taste fucked up things is that you basically invite everyone, which leads to people who don't judge because they're judged for their stuff into, and they'll crack down on anyone who so much as blinks in their direction without a positive response. Furries have done this for a long time, where they're overly vocal about things that ought to stay private, which is, in my opinion, part of what makes it a group that's so easy to mock. We've seen them get some common sense with the Eurofurence ban on diaper-related stuff, but they caught a lot of flak for it because of the enablers you had mentioned. While you can't really ban someone for their fetishes, you can ban or punish them for breaking the rules of a convention, such as public indecency. If more cons followed this model, it would be beneficial to everyone. Furs won't have as bad of an image, and people who don't want to see that shit in public won't. But with the flak Eurofurence caught, I have my doubts that anyone will follow their example, unfortunately.
Rainfurrest was a big convention that made a lot of waves when it bit the dust. I wouldn't be surprised if other conventions would start becoming paranoid about being shut down.
Pretty much. Hopefully Rainfurrest 2015 has been enough to knock some sense into them. I have yet to see one person of any walk of life mention Rainfurrest 2015 with even the slightest amount of any positive emotion.
Considering how some fantasy sex toys have their own little stands (with age restrictions on who can even go into the room with them, obviously, they have some standards) I don't think that'll happen.
