Some guy interviewed Nathan. Haven't watched it yet but i figure i should post it here anyways
Sigh. I watched it.
ETA: this took me so long
@Handsome and Cool has a way more detailed post upthread.
Nathan comments on his dad's behavior online. I both teared up and cackled at this clip.
Interviewer asks if tiny has ever hit Nathan, and if Nathan has any secrets about his dad. Nathan answers as a gentleman.
Nathan plans to follow in his dad's footsteps - and listen to his reason. Did your father's success make your life easier, Nathan? Maybe ease is not the secret to a good life.
A.G. Peak's summary totally missed this most important interaction. Interviewer tries to use buoyancy as a work around for gravity not existing - fails to realize heavy thing go down and light thing go up. But Nathan gives the only correct response to this.
Just watch Nathan's body language. When someone is stimulation seeking to pay attention, it is often to self soothe. We hope to develop more graceful and prosocial coping strategies as we mature, but here he displays a clear distress. He later confirms it is anxiety by a terrible leading question from the 15 year old interviewer.
Are you aware of this established lore? Destiny drinks his own cum and fantasizes about drinking/ does drink the cum of other men, both directly from the source (a dick) and also second hand (snowballing or from a vagina).
When your 13yo son has a deeper voice than you
Nathan is clearly higher T than his father, already at 14. One of the many ways he is and will be different than destiny.
What a shame. Ruining your reputation just because your dad is an absent degenerate.
Honestly Nathan's mother needs to intervene at this point. This is clearly a cry for attention and an attempt to follow in his father's edgy footsteps. The things he's saying right now could potentially follow him into adult life and prevent him from attending universities if they see this kinda thing.
Nathan acknowledges this. He says he knows he is sabotaging his future, and that his dad is not proud of him (maybe a good thing actually).
I would speculate that destiny is so preoccupied with being the most right person in the room, that he could never humble himself to nurture the budding debate bro Nathan aspires to be. Children need attention (everyone does), and for kids, attention is absolute. They do not care if it is positive or negative, they just need it. And boy did Nathan get his dad's attention with this arc.
I imagine being 14, wanting desperately my father's attention while also knowing he is so deeply flawed and broken. Nathan has been given a unique set of challenges, that's for sure.
I wonder if Destiny has some sort of Autoandrophilia (dunno if that's even the correct psych term for for this). It seems like he quite literally gets off to the sound of his own voice. There's no other explination,
Ahem ackshully
Autoandrophilia would be arousal from perceiving oneself as a man - but only if you are a woman. He is more likely receiving pleasure from humiliation, tho I'm questioning that now - humiliation requires shame.
