I heard recently that Dua Lipa covered this French song recently. It was the first single of Alizee, and it was pretty much introducing her as a young, maturing girl who's up and coming, single ready to mingle. Alizee was a month shy of 16 when it was released.

With that said, I think a LOT of people are missing the point of that book. And given all the media inspired by it, it seems it's women who are misreading it. Unless of course, they're just c/sock puppets for male handlers/composers.
