Which is being proposed to be merged with the DEA. Which would lessen oversight and give them more agency to fuck the American people overI'm in agreement with rocket launcher man in that registering potatoes will only have the ATF asking for a larger budget.
This is the worst possible outcome. Leaving the NFA as-is would have been better. You won't be able to get a suppressor or any tax stamped item and you can thank the Republican party for that. All they had to do was absolutely nothing. All it would take is one senator to say "lol no". There was nothing stopping the GOP from re-adding the same text. Absolutely nothing.
But they don't care. Once you are stripped of rights you don't get them back. It doesn't matter what they are, whether it's consumer rights like the right to repair or the right to add a can to your gun without having your dog shot.
The apathy of the American constituent borders on suicidal nihilism. This much like everything else will be forgotten down the road. Something else will come to occupy it's place in the news cycle.
We live in a post-consequence age. There has never been a time like this in politics. As an example, the Watergate scandal of the 70's was politically relevant for almost a decade. And when compared to contemporary events it seems like almost nothing. Had it happened today it would be a blip in the collective conscious.
No one holds these people accountable anymore. The same people who, regardless of a D or R do insider trading on an industrial scale. They have more money then you will ever make in several lifetimes over.
