Silent Hill

Is that a porn parody?

If you showed people modern RE and modern SH do you think they could tell the games apart? How many third person shooters can you mix with silent hill 2 remake footage and not tell it's a different game? These are minimum viable products made in a disjointed way where nothing can ever be good because it has to be a minimum viable product or the out sourcing studios won't be able to attach their generic bits to it.

I'm not saying everyone on the team was an occultist, but Toyama and Owaku at least definitely did their research, and it shows in the first 3 games.
More on this: give me some proof please. Images, and an elaboration because I don't see it unless you just mean the usage of symbols which is to say absolutely nothing.
I know The Exorcist III was an influence but nothing is specifically occult beyond the cult storyline and methodology which wasn't too original even back then comes to mind. Compared to even the original two Shin Megami Tensei games (Gaia follower temples) and other actually occult games from the 90s I see nothing here.

I think 4 was the most occult they got ironically given aspects of numerology and other elements at work in the narrative and levels that aren't very clear without knowing the victim files or using camhacks. (There is a hidden moth behind the empty hole in the spiraling staircase)

I've posted it here before, but Reinstall Paul's series go into detail breaking down a lot of the occult stuff (this is just SH1, he's covered 2 and 3 as well):
You say the use of symbols means nothing, but that's only true if they're just there for spooks and window dressing. It's the way they are used in the Team Silent titles that conveys a deeper meaning, in conjunction with the surface-level plot.

I'm not listening to a man who can't even name his greeks correctly for any occult shit. I'd sooner listen to an insufferable thegamingmuse essay because at least she's in the pooner cult.

Pyramid Head's model does change between his sword and spear variant.
I knew I wasn't crazy. (Credit to the Silenthillmuseum model viewer site)

Occult(?) text appears on him. Wish Bloober kept the detail.

Beyond that nice detail, his helmet also changes with more white rust and parts of him get dirtier.

I believe the white rust appearing over the part where the tongue comes out indicates that it's sealed off now and serves as a visual reason for why he no longer has those animations with the spear. His helmet also slides open every time he impales Maria. So his helmet is able to change its own structure, it's as organic as he is (of course you already see and hear it creak and shift a little in the closet cutscene). Could also relate to how James changes from the first to second half.

Loudmouth Masahiro Ito should have explained this but I guess most fans gloss over it since it's hard to tell in-game. I am convinced it's meant to resemble text as if it's some scroll or passages and not just random cloth detail since the model already has grainy cloth details and the fact that it appears on him once he gets this ritualistic spear along with the extra white splotch which confirms it's intentional.

The grainy cloth fiber texture.

Faded text appears over it.

Most visible "passage" texture on his left side.

I imagine it as excerpts from the Crimson Ceremony. Matches with the "Red Pyramid Thing" descriptor.

This is the last post I'll make regarding his model since I think I've pretty much confirmed my suspicions upon deeper comparisons. Haven't seen anyone else talk about it and not much of a peep from Reddit or forums, so its nice to take away something a little new albeit purposeless given how sharp this fanbase usually is with detail.

If it's that french frog faggot back at the helm....
Meanwhile Blubber Team's Silent Hill 2 still doesn't have Born From A Wish :story:
And BFAW is actually a really nice little ghost story. It isn't groundbreaking, but it's a fun extra, the exact kind that would be kike'd and monetized to death in this greedy era. And what little music it has remains unique and enjoyably haunting like the rest of the OST.

I hate this pretentious nigger with such a burning passion it's so unreal. I'd literally rather put up with that smug cunt from TwinPerfect all day than listen to one word of this hippy faggot ever again.

I agree that Paul's earlier content was very flawed (and he even acknowledged as much) but in my opinion his more recent analyses have gotten much better. Especially the SH3 and SH ritual magic series are quite informative. Linking the weakest one from 6 years ago was my bad, I just wanted to provide some proper context.

I think SIREN is more occult. SILENT HILL has its occult themes and aftermath of it, but SIREN shows you a fully fledged cult with more horrific Japanese elements to them. Game is literally based around having to figure out levels to progress the timeline. The levels are the puzzles. Good evolution in design. Hated by many, loved by me.

Let's be real. Siren is, as the kid's say, "kino". The soundtrack is incredible, characters unique (I even like the English accents, adds to the weirdness on top of the bizarre face projection stuff), and story very interesting.

What's not kino is the pants-on-head retarded obtuseness to clear the game properly, the repetitive, similar looking locations, the clunky controls/movement, and the framerate (at least on the PS2).

I love the game and I'm thrilled it exists, astounded a (weirder perhaps) sequel got made, and disappointed they never made a third one. Yup, very sad they didn't make a third game. Slitterhead being as disappointing as it turned out to be makes me sort of hope he gets to take another crack at Siren because he's a fuckin weirdo and even if I don't like how the games are coming out maybe being paired with a tard-wrangler would result in a god-tier nuSiren game.

Too bad the only way to play it is to either own an X-Box or hunt down a rare and expensive variant of SH2 for PS2.

This was what ultimately killed Siren for me--revisiting levels just to find minor details, especially when there's some cases where if you die after the midlevel checkpoint you end up having to manually restart from scratch--was just too much.

That said it's also paradoxically a case of "lots of people find the enemies hard to beat, I only found that the case in levels where you don't have a weapon."
