Mega Rad Gun Thread

I just want sub $200 suppressors.

Suppressor prices were artificially inflated by the NFA for almost a century.

Anything that makes them cheaper is a win.
It can literally be a fucking steel can. It does not need to be made of Inconel or any of that bullshit. Make it disposable for all i care. Just make it cheap as fuck.

Didn't Daniel Defense buy the rights to the Hudson and now service them?
They bought the rights to the H9 and make their own version of it. I have one of the DD H9's. For the price point, the trigger is fucking awful. They were also having issues at launch with keyholing. Mine hasn't had keyholing issues, but I have around 2.4k rounds on mine and the backstrap likes to work its way loose after a few hundred rounds which is really annoying. I also immediately replaced the grips with a nicer wood set that doesn't dig into my palms as much as the OEM grips like to.

I bought a $1000 handgun once.
Company went bankrupt about a year later and now I own an unsupported novelty.
Doesn’t happen to be a Whitney Wolverine?

I’m getting 3 Lorcins to bring to a buyba……..I mean, to collect. I love Lorcins. The best manufacturer to have lived!

It's a newer design/iteration, parts for the original are scattered to the wind I think but people should probably get in touch with Daniel Defense because they cannot sell the things. My local FFL has a monthly sale on the H9.

Sort of frustrating CZ won't just announce the next gen P-10 which allegedly is a FCU based system. Yet another model variation of the original which I'm sure is amazing but eh

The P10 platform does just about what Glock does but at a considerably lower pricepoint.

Speaking of Glock, I want them to announce Gen 6 already. If the patents are to be believed, it'll have a modular grip system and, perhaps, a modular dust cover for different slide lengths. That being said, Ruger beat them to the punch with the RXM. Fantastic platform.

How does it work?

Recently acquired an FM HiPower detective for carrying and I'm looking at ways of putting a comp on it for the funi and so it fits better on my regular HP holsters (but mostly funi), getting spare barrels here is basically near impossible at least for now so I'm looking at options I can import directly or just CNC locally.

The Gen6 is making me not want to cough of the cash on a 19COA just yet...wish they'd hurry up.

You bought a Hudson H9 didn't you?
Yes, and all things considered I really do like the gun and medium sad it went the way it did.

Yes/No
DD bought the rights but their version of the Gun has pretty much zero compatibility with the original.

Nope, I bought a Hudson H9.

I'm definitely with you here but I simply don't see that ever happening.

Regarding weapon acquisition, is there anything that makes you all stop concerning yourself with getting [next thing]? For me, it's seeing how much skill I lack with a platform. For instance, I have two Christensen Arms rifles I bought in 2021 when I heard they were supposed to be awesome. They're not, never buy anything from that dogshit company. Anyway, even though both rifles had to go back to them for warranty work and buying a custom setup based around American Rifle Company's CDG action is damn tempting, I want to run both of those CA rifles until I really improve my LR rifle skills. So while there's stuff catching my eye I want to "run what I brung" until it makes better sense to put money into something else.

What are your thoughts on this?

... Even if all paperwork expenses were wiped out?
The barriers to getting really cheap suppressors as far as I can tell are what prices the market will bear, the fact that quality manufacturing is never cheap, and also the fact that the dollar's value is constantly falling. Paperwork expenses may fall away if the tax gets eliminated and we no longer have to ask permission from the satanic pedophiles in government, but I don't see that affecting the MSRP of the cans.

Set screw secures in the little divot on the bottom of the barrel.

I'm not an engineer of any stripe but I have a vague understanding of manufacturing and economies of scale so here's my unsupported and largely unsourced ramble on the theoretical potential future of the suppressor industry in the market

1. There are some 4.8M suppressors in civilian hands according to the latest data
-1.1 I have absolutely no idea about the exact specific details of this data, for example it could include registered Maxim's owned by rich guys in the forties that were sold as scrap decades ago, random Gemtech's that were destroyed in house fires but were never actually reported destroyed etc etc.
2. Assuming the original number is largely accurate that means since 1934 less than 5 million suppressors have been Form 1/4'd since 1934 (although if we really want to be accurate civilian suppressor sales didn't REALLY start until after the AWB for a variety of reasons including state bans, tax stamps, culture and general ignorance)
3. It does not make sense for a manufacturer to scale production if there is not a great demand.
4. Long wait times, A tedious paperwork process for both buyers and sellers and a $200 fee have all suppressed (hehe) sales, refer above to point 3
5. Eforms, Digitalization/Silencershop, repeal of CLEO approvals and hopefully soon a lack of a registration fee will cause a spike in sales
6. Increased demand will potentially lead to a scaling up of manufacturing and new players entering the market increasing competition
7. Economies of scale could lead to reduction in prices and increases in availability
8. Decent European suppressor are like $500

If the tax stamp repeal actually goes into effect it might actually be the event that causes SilencerCo (which I would think is America's largest suppressor manufacturer besides Surefire) to invest $5M in an actual stamping setup for baffles and a bunch of smaller shops to bite the bullet and drop $800k on a decent DMLS

But what if companies are greedy you say? Well, you can't really account for that but take into consideration that the suppressor community love their wholesome chungus manufacturers, just look at OCL.

OSD just put out an article about this doing a bunch of nerd math

To further reinforce my point somewhat, here's an Ase Ulta 5.55 K can being sold for 600 euros ($707)

Now keep that price in mind, because it's being manufactured (in relatively small quantities further increasing per unit price) in a country with European labor costs and tax rates before being sold to a retailer that has to deal with those same expenses AND make a profit

And here's a price list for Maxim silencers circa 1916, $7 in 1916 is $206.45 today. And this is without cost savings from automation and mass production. Not to mention design optimization
1751498050654.webp

We can see from a scanned copy of the catalog that page is from that the Military model for Springfield rifles is $9 ($265.43) and that a model for machineguns is $100 (2949.22 and obviously sold at a massive mark up)

So I think it wouldn't be impossible to see $350 17-4 stainless suppressor that Can survive a full auto combat load magdump in the next few years.

If suppressors were taken off the NFA every reputable company would be back ordered for the next 3-5 years. Sure, quite a few companies of various qualify would pop up and attempt the fill the demand and they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock either for the foreseeable future.

This isn't true. Suppressors are one of the easiest things to manufacture. And it's something that would scale rapidly.

If they were no longer NFA / 4473 items the same way optics or other accessories were there would be faster times to get production up and running, in addition to imports from overseas. At that point you could also legally just make one yourself with a, ahem, "fule filter".

Ever since the wait times dropped to a few days all the good shit is out of stock. Been that way already for like 2 years.

maybe not i just looked at silencer central and they have a lot more in stock than last time I checked.

The P10F CR is a legitimate steal for what you get. Wanna say I paid around $600 for mine and I don't know if anything else at that price can touch it. I just wish I could get one without all the gold crap on it.
