hmmmm what is the enhanced edition mod hmmmmIsn't the PC port infamously botched tho?
It's literally included with the Greatest Hits label release, which had a lot produced for ps2 smash hit titles. Greatest Hits also has bug fixes.Too bad the only way to play it is to either own an X-Box or hunt down a rare and expensive variant of SH2 for PS2.
It's worth playing. One of their best small works and adds more to Maria's character than the base game does imo. Makes SH2 and Maria even creepier with its context and serves as a nice finale for the game. Retards cry for the remake to have it as dlc for a reason.... which is a rare and expensive variant, like I said.
I just got on ebay and looked it up dude. It goes for around $250.
... I suppose there's always the high seas, but before now I had never heard that Born From a Wish was particularly worth playing.
Has been the best way to play 2&3 for almost a decade now…Isn't the PC port infamously botched tho?
This is likely what I'll end up doing if I decide to play it.So emulating the greatest hits version is the way to go.
*If you sit through an insufferable list of fan fixes and tweaks and are fine with losing aspects or effects with framerate bugs. PS2 emulation is the way to go for 2, 3 and 4. Games were built for them. No broken graphics or effects compared to the base PC versions. There are 60fps hacks but these games are fine as they are on PS2, and they play pretty well too.Has been the best way to play 2&3 for almost a decade now…*
You don't even have to unlock it on the PS2 version compared to Xbox (iirc), you can immediately boot it up.This is likely what I'll end up doing if I decide to play it.
They're at 60 fps, I just checked. IIRC they grabbed the ps2 versions of the cutscenes and upscaled them.Enhanced Edition makes too many changes and has 30fps FMVs.
They are interpolated in a worse way and upscaled with ai slop resulting in an inconsistent image quality (look at the blurs on the finer details in the Maria jail scene), the original ps2 method was more pure and simple. Last time I played EE (before the final update) it was 30fps but upscaled. They're at 60 fps, I just checked. IIRC they grabbed the ps2 versions of the cutscenes and upscaled them.
Now the question is, "Is Silent Hill 4 worth playing?" That one was always divisive, and what I heard turned me away (particularly a lot of the game mechanics sound more "annoying" than anything).PS2 emulation is the way to go for 2, 3 and 4.
Why not just try it yourself and form your own opinions if you have the time? I recommend an easy playthrough to start with due to its difficulty, and reading the victim files. I think it's worth experiencing if you want to know more about the cult and explore an interesting story. It is the darkest game they got to make. It's like a spinoff almost since it was initially designed to be one but retains the core essence of Team Silent. If you don't want to play it, here's nubzombie's deep playthrough that covers all info and such. You will not like it if the trilogy was a mixed bag for you. But if you enjoy 1-3 you can appreciate 4.Now the question is, "Is Silent Hill 4 worth playing?" I own physical copies of 1, 2, and 3 on their original platforms, but never followed up with 4 because even the good Silent Hill games were a mixed bag for me overall.
To put bluntly, its a series where I like individual ideas and setpieces but not the overall package in most cases, particularly Silent Hill 2 which wound up casting a shadow over the series and, indeed, horror games in general.... and I've said in the past I didn't even like its big twist even when the game first came out, I certainly don't like now that its practically a requirement that every game has to be about someone with emotional issues who fights/runs from monsters that are meant to be symbolic of those issues.
But eh, I made this rant already.
People love to say Silent Hill 4 is “divisive” like there’s this broiling culture war over it, but every take is pretty consistent: moody but unfinished, not even close to 2 or 3 in terms of quality or resources. Now the question is, "Is Silent Hill 4 worth playing?"
It has a very interesting premise with neat concepts and ideas, but some gameplay design decisions are absolutely retarded. Now the question is, "Is Silent Hill 4 worth playing?"
Which one is 16 again? Cynthia's ghost scares the shit outta me, just something about that onryo/yurei look.People love to say Silent Hill 4 is “divisive” like there’s this broiling culture war over it, but every take is pretty consistent: moody but unfinished, not even close to 2 or 3 in terms of quality or resources.
I’ll never forgive those ghosts. 16 scared me so bad I had to turn it off.
Myst-ass supermax lighthouse prison for kids in the middle of the ocean. Have you tried grounding them instead? It has a very interesting premise with neat concepts and ideas, but some gameplay design decisions are absolutely retarded.
I remember my buddy at the time played it on xbox. It’s one that i’ve been wanting to play. But I think i’ve only played 1, 2, Homecoming, and OriginsIt has a very interesting premise with neat concepts and ideas, but some gameplay design decisions are absolutely retarded.
