Becky is all about mindless consumerism at Disney, but a summertime BBQ at a relative's place, house full of cousins and the extended family just chilling and enjoying a drink or two is a way better weekend than crammed into a theme park.

Like you said, toddlers love chasing after bigger kids, and with a whole family of adults the parents get a little bit of relaxation time as they're not solely responsible for chasing after the baby. Becky reminds me daily of a quote by Swedish 19th century author Hjalmar Söderberg:

I don't know if it's changed, and I haven't had a reason to check in a long time; and even if it hasn't, it's still too late and the damage is done. But in California, a 12 year old child can go before the state and have a say about what parentage they want to associate with. I'm not sure of all the terms and conditions; but know that in a split-family scenario, if desired, a 12 year old can make some advocacy for themselves. I'd wager that includes "I want no part of X in my life."

But as I already said, they want the child to be at least 12, and the damage is done by then.

You know damn well that she weaponizes that kid. I'm not defending or supporting Daniel because the evidence that this child has been neglected is clear as day and as the biological parent. No. As a member of society, it was his job to say something or do something. But everyone in that house hated that kid and saw it as either an accessory, a prop, or a way to placate the harpy. The 'divorce' is basically one of the first times she's seen consistent attention, because Becky thinks that will make Daniel feel jealousy, shame or insecurity.
