Mega Rad Gun Thread

but realistically I do not need the night vision mode since I will likely never be able to afford NODs,
Do you get guns for free or something? Some of what you own sounds like it's in the $1.5k range which is in second hand territory for even some Gen III devices. Take a stroll through some second hand sites (not Gunchoker) and you might see some nice PVS-14 or other single monocular devices for good prices.

half the people here sound like they'd oppose constitutional carry cause you still have to fill out a 4473 to buy the gun first place.
A $200 discount is quite a far cry different to an actual right. If there was anything else done it'd be different. If they dropped any of the requirements then I'd say sure. This whole "do it or don't" NFA nonsense bickering is over what amounts to so far a $200 discount.

The NFA has become somewhat less worse than we started.
Like this for example. It became "less worse" because it's now no longer permanently affixed to a $200 price point and has been (for now) moved to zero. It's still the same NFA just with a discount that can turn into a real punishing tax down the line.
I fucking guarantee you the Feds already have your fingerprints and photo socked away on some government mainframe
Also this line of reasoning is nonsensical. Like the Facebook boomer of yore who says why bother, "they already got my info anyways!" May as well give them more then right?
The only reason it went away is because it had a built in expiration date.
Bushy boy said he would have reauthorized it had it come to his desk.
Yeah thankfully. It's crazy how much people forget that it expired and wasn't taken down. You just accidentally had the AWB go back out of effect. I wonder what gun culture would look like today if it was still around.

I can't even keep track of how many times my fingerprints have been taken for govt purposes. This isn't some midwit conspiracy theory.

Thanks to the Ruger chads that helped me a few pages back and steered me clear of dropping $700 on an AR right out of the gate instead of working up to it. What do you guys think of this deal right now for a 1022, including a scope + sling + hard case, etc. for $299?

I don't know if I'll fall in love with the scope or not since I'm new to this but it couldn't hurt to have options, would this impact or limit the customizability of the 22 if I bought something like this instead of the base model? It's about a $80-ish difference. I like the black better than than the wooden stock anyway.

At $300, the accessories are basically free. Even if they're trash, they're probably okay enough to hold you over until you figure out what you actually like.

The scope MSRP is $100 + $20 for the rings but the other extras are probably shitty so I wouldnt even count them. The price seems like its more than fair to me, so unless you wanna get a used gun to save some money Id go for it.

You should get at least one larger capacity mag as well, just for fun. I've never heard anything bad about the 25 round ones.

go for it dude. if you don't like the scope you could get pretty much any red dot to replace it down the road. get the BX-25 mags as mentioned, a black dog 50 round drum if you're feeling frisky, and the lightning grip loader and 10/22 adapter to make loading mags a lot easier.

That's a pretty good deal. As others have said, that's a decent way to get set up to have fun right out of the box and keep you going until you've decided exactly how you want to set it up.

I'm really wanting to do a 10/22 build with a takedown model, binary trigger or FRT, suppressor, red dot, and either some kind of ultra modern chassis, or go old school and get one of those AC-556k style wood stocks with metal side folding stock and pistol grip. Like an A-Team style 10/22 thats also a take down. It would be a fun little plinker that breaks down to a small, portable package, and you can have guilt-free mag dumps. It won't be cheap to get everything for it, but I've already got a really sweet vintage Browning BL-22 and a Ruger American Rimfire for accuracy, so I want a rapid fire fun blaster for my next .22 rifle.

I've got a braced 22 Charger (basically 10/22 pistol) Takedown with the midwest industries m-lok handguard, silencerco sparrow, and a holosun he515cm and it's hands down my favorite gun to shoot. I'm afraid to buy a binary for it because it's already too fun lol. With the Sparrow and the barrel I have (10") it's about the same size as a standard 10/22, I think you can get it with an 8" barrel too. I'd advise against the Lite version if you want to use the handguard I mentioned, it doesn't quite have enough clearance from the handguard to use standard m-lok screws, I had to file them down to use anything but the bottom rows of slots, the sides and top I couldn't use

Multiple states including mine do. The contrarians are called SovCits.
My state doesn't print, although since we've marched up this dumb argument hill I'll point out what a false comparison it is. You can more easily access the state legislated privilege of driving a car than you can your second amendment right nationally.

Sig has unveiled their loading for Hybrid case, high pressure 5.56, Dubbed "5.56 MAX". Not compatible with standard rifles
So that’s what the Army will be adopting after the Spear falls through. Good to know.

If it isn't thrown out on the basis of "lol, no" it's a glorified free throw

It’s Northern District of Texas. That’s the most conservative district in the entire country. They are absolutely stacking the deck.

If you buy NVG from a individual party seller always get a copy of the datasheet and a picture through the tube at full illumination. You can also ask for a video of the tube through their phone camera. Do not buy if they don't have a copy of the original sheet. It's very easy to lie about something like the FOM and visually it's not possible to determine based on a photograph alone.

I don’t know how to feel about Turkish firearms.
I used to own an ATI TACSX2 and it's the best $200 shotgun I've ever got my hands on.

@cantankerous jackalope if you're getting a scoped 10/22 do yourself a favor and buy an extended charging handle. They're like 20-25 bucks. You'll thank me later.

That steel based 5.56 is gonna be the move imo. I saw some straight walled 5.56 from somewhere in Asia that looked sick and was able to achieve the same power but with less weight and double the capacity or so. Seeing THAT with the steel base at 80k would be awesome, but even 80k regular 5.56 will still be swag, and has the upside of more case capacity/power vs a straight wall 5.56.

I guess you gotta figure out if you'd rather match/slightly improve power but boost the shit outta weight savings/capacity, or have some more power for the same gear you already have. Curious to see if civs end up getting this stuff and how reloadable it is. Doing a .300blk a or .338 wildcat on this case would be pretty sweet
