Ready or Not - The 2nd video game to let you flash bang a small child

They will normalize violence towards certain groups but the moment you're raiding a pedophile's house in a video game they say it's gone too far.

I play RoN, and I'd pay for the game again even it let's me tie the pred's feet to the PD's truck hitch and drag em round town extra slow, remember keep it under 15-10 mph, any faster they might lost consciousness hitting a kerb. Fuck it, I'd buy several copies.

I don't think these are weird complaints at all. I've talked with detectives and feds that handle child abuse and cases similar to the stuff handled in these games and the shit they deal with is harrowing. I haven't played RoN(yet) myself but from everything I've heard, its goal was to be as realistic as possible in terms of the shit the player has to deal with, and I feel like these removals go against the soul of that idea and I can understand why the fans of the game would be upset.

It is cowardice.
Life is dark and you are the good guys taking out very bad guys in this game.
This kind of faggoty shit Just lets Sony and Microsoft further their agendas of making pedophiles, drug dealers, and other vile shit not look so bad by going "See there's no child overdosing its sleeping soundly in the crack den."
"See? Those brave resistance fighters, they didn't rape those women they're fully clothed and tied up in the corner"
"See those pedophiles were just heckin wholesome furries."
They gave in for cash. The fate of many game developers honestly.
Millions wasn't enough they wanted hundreds of millions if not billions.

Elite Force is really good.
nah, elite force giving kill % to nonlethals show how shit it is on a similar scale as a realistic survival mod.
I thought the whole point of RoN was "This is NOT rated T for Teen."
some corponigger and his beancounter looked at RON, saw how COD is doing badly and said "remove these things and we'll make millions! with the rating going to T so many edgy teenagers will buy it."
Between this shit and Tarkov I swear there's something about military shooter genre that attracts absolute autism and foot-shooting stupidity in terms of the devs.
Squad and Arma3 are doing fine though, the bugs are to be expected.

RIP.

I don't care about most of the changes but removing the ODing kid and the references to CSAM objectively worsens the depictions of and commentary on the real world issues being addressed. Video games have a unique potential to convey experiences more directly than any other medium, allowing the audience to occupy a space and a role rather than depicting it through a third party, and that has real artistic merit when it comes to things like, in this case, showing people a facsimile of the reality that people in this line of work have to contend with, the gravity thereof, and the real world ground level consequences of things most of us will only ever talk about in the context of legislation. Sacrificing that for the sake of making a product more palatable to morons who don't want to think about difficult questions and just view it as entertainment is an objective loss and a disservice to both the art and the medium. Refusing to show the very real phenomenon of children getting hurt by the drug trade because you don't want to think about it is a disservice to the conversation around the drug trade. Refusing to acknowledge the reality of how fucking vile the CSAM trade is because you don't want to think about it is a disservice to the conversation around CSAM. This is a step backward for everyone involved.

Going to preserve a copy of the game as it is and hope these things get restored one way or another.

Not gonna bother archiving these, but Gruntr, a dev, made some clarifying comments on Reddit.

TLDR: Dev's didn't like the changes either, but it was either changing it or canning the console launch, clearly one of those makes more sense than the other. Gruntr pushed for separate PC and Console versions so PC wasn't hit with the censorship changes, but it wasn't feasible. Gore will be revisited at a later time to see if they can revert or tone down the censorship, at least for PC. (Reminder, the censorship is only regarding the mutilation of downed/already dead suspects.) The kid in Twisted Nerve's animation was actually a left-over from the reveal trailer, and was just thrown on her and never replaced. Console will be getting extra censorship not applied to PC, mainly covering the fictional CP in some of the maps, as this is just texture differences it won't be applied to PC.
Very interesting how the developers themselves didn't want to change this - and it shows it isn't the team don't want to "start shit", but rather this request came from somewhere else; if this developer is to be believed.
The average IQ of stream reviewers continues to be sub-ape levels, not shocking.

I sort of feel bad for Void, I have plenty of issues with Void, but this is clearly a situation where they really had no choice really. For the first time there seems to be actual, hard pushback against Void for something, and it's over this shit. Not the delays, not the still present AI issues, not their near constant radio silence met by random bullshit, but the one thing that was actually forced upon them.
Agree, this is definitely not a bait-and-switch or "fuck you, gamers!". If only people researched for 10 minutes, they would find more information regarding facts. And read past the headline. Don't forget that many are working on "feelings based".
I forgive Void in general for self censoring because the game still has some based themes/content

-The college shooter level

-Neon Tomb which might be a reference to the pulse night club shooting with arabs taking over the night club

-The Furry pedo livestreamer who screams hilariously when you shoot him

-The oil rig which is basically filled with armed stop oil protestors

-The all female cult on a rural farm

-The birthday party for a pedo's daughter, with red rooms in the basement.

-A daycare used for pedo shit if I remember correctly

I can understand them being pragmatic this time around in order to get on consoles and grow their brand. I got my moneys worth anyway and the needle is still being pushed culturally.

Edit: Also, the PC version will always exist and if you play fps games on a console, you're a peasant, unironically. Modern Consoles are pretty dogshit in general, actually. Good luck with no mod support.
I'd say they based these things in reality, so it is even better.
Technically it's the Livestreamer's brother who's the furry, the streamer is just a weeb

Don't forget the CIA connection with said cult as well. Also the fact a lot of the game can, in a way, be tied back to the CIA and even the main character is a CIA experiment.

Edit: The change to the women is fucking horrendous, not because I am le gooner who needs to see starving and beaten women's tits, but because it doesn't even fit the setting. They are being trafficked, why do they have brand new underwear? It doesn't fit the setting in the slightest.
Whoa, this got me interested, but sadly I think I would get the game too late to play. That is, uncensored.

I'll just copy over what I said on the Wendigoon thread, since this was briefly discussed since he posted a video like a day before this happened on Ready or Not.
Wasn't it supposed to mostly be visuals? What would stop them from just doing what Left 4 Dead did almost 20 years ago with the censored international versions coexisting just fine with the uncensored US version? Why would the console edits block crossplay?

It's either

1. They are lazy
2. They were told of the requirement last second and had to rush it out.

I really feel like Void Interactive started this whole shock thing to get out of a contract with their publisher they didn't want to work with anymore but couldn't terminate it on their end without legal issues so they just made the game poison to them. But they realized the whole shock thing actually might get them more customers.

I mean they already toned the game down a lot before launch. The trailers showed more blood and the school shooting level was 100% not a university in the trailer.

I think it has worked out really well for them though. They managed to get very positive reviews despite missing half the features they advertised prior to launch. It's not a terrible game by any means but it is hardly different than swat 4. They promised this super in-depth story line with crazy characters, a PVP mode, all this shit and its just not there, but no one cares.

Edit: All these missing promises
Because people are dumb, they have been sold this shock value edge fest an they ate it up. So, course they are gonna ignore all the promises made originally for this game.

Beyond this, cutting content from the game is what VOID is known for. I remember seeing them talk about adding Sierra team and drones only to renege on that years later. it is a shame they are censoring this for console gayming masses, but a lot of gaming authorities are very stringent about this sort of stuff on console for no apparent reason. RoN got pulled on the AUS marketplace for this reason.

They are wanting to change the enemy AI to make it's difficulty variable but I have a feeling they will fuck it up. Either way, look at what VOID promised in the early days to what it delivered now (True Detective ARG is very cool but please fix your fucking broken enemy AI).

Any time a game is watered down for "the consoles" it is a failure of leadership.

Obsidian talked about how FUCKED OVER they were by the PS3 being a massive sack of crap, but too bad, you are a subsidiary and the money men want ps3 prioritized.

The truth is, the money never liked the dark content in the first place, and the console version is a great chance to force the PC version in line with their "vision."

Space man from pluto vibes.

Even then it is like Ok maybe you didn't have enough money after the whole publisher whatever the fuck but you sold the unfinished game for full price and made a shit ton off of it. Update some shit in or at least have a killer expansion pack that makes it worth it.

So the first DLC pops in, teaser seems kind of cool there is a Hurricane maybe they are going to do some sort of Katrina thing that would be fucking awesome, lots of shit they could do with that. Little bit weird that they used AI for the voice when they have money to hire actual people to make a 30 second voice clip... Then it comes out and it is just $10 for 3 boring generic missions and no new mechanics or story lines, same with the next DLC too.
