Of all the subject matter expert Rick's my favourite is the "as a sci-fi author.../sci-fi author here let me explain" one, mostly because it's literally fucking meaningless. Being an author can ONLY make you an expert (of itself) on being an author, and that requires more than just a few books. Other expertise you may have comes from elsewhere; Tolkien isn't an expert on languages because he wrote the LotR; he was an expert on languages who wrote the LotR. About all a sci-fi author can claim expertise in is writing bullshit scientific sounding drek that redditors will gobble up.
