This has always been known in this thread but as of recently I've been going through a bunch of people's artwork looking for inspo and what not, but my goodness gracious I'm so tired of going through hundreds of characters to see so many characters with almost no information except their sexuality and pronouns. I understand these elements being a part of a biography for the character but just that? Nothing else on the characters' actual personality? Oh right these people conflate sexualities and genders to stereotypes so they view these things as key personality trait. Not counter-intuitive at ALL. I do however get quite a laugh when someone makes all their transmen characters shy little sweethearts and their transwomen all big and buff sexual hunks.

Yeah, when I first joined this thread, I thought people here were digging through people's art to find some of these pieces but I was completely wrong. Go on Tumblr, type in any fandom, and within the first 5 art pieces you'll see at least one that has a character's sexuality and pronouns. Nothing in regards to their personalities. Heck, I'm active in the South Park fandom and there's this one part of the fandom on Twitter that's dedicated to the female 4th grade characters and wants the writers to do more with them. I'm thinking "Oh a place where people can exchange ideas and think of what they can do with the female characters?". Don't get me wrong, I highly doubt Trey and Matt will do anything with the female 4th graders but at least it was nice to see people suggest ideas they can do with them. Boy was I wrong, the entire thread is just lesbian shipping. Like how the fuck do these people expect Trey and Matt to do more with the girls if the only thing they suggest is shipping?

I’m going to rant for a moment because when looking at this here Yaoi artists they are basically all drawing Viktor in a traditionally feminine way, whereas I see that the only porn they consume that involves any heterosexually has to have the female be the one penetrating/pegging while the male is taking it in the butt.

The problem is that in their minds making men “emasculated” is a way to empower women over sexualizing them. OFMD (Our Flag Means Death) actually had a similar collaborative animatic where you can watch as people routinely fail to interpret either couple's facial features correctly, but it's noteworthy that the JayVik video has Viktor looking vastly more consistent than Jayce by a country mile. There's something unique about fandoms (and artists who find their footing in fandoms) that makes them very susceptible to this kind of disease of the art in which whoever is dark must get darker, whoever is slightly effeminate must get even more feminine, whoever is X must simply always become more X.

I've always wondered if it's something to do with fandom sort of "reclaiming" characters from franchises and projects as sort of 'communal original characters' - that is to say, the longer the fandom persists, the more notably different and inaccurate the fandom idea of the character is versus the canon representation. It happens all throughout this thread where they slap vitiligo patches and pronoun pins to characters for whom it makes absolutely no sense and I honestly don't know what the appeal is in terms of other ways to explore characters. Fanfic has a similar problem, and it's why I've staunchly remained out of fandom spaces as a whole when enjoying any media - especially anything that may draw the pungent presence of pronouns.

Anyway, thread tax: a great place to find SJW art and original characters is a yearly event known as Art Fight, which is essentially just an art trading game where two teams compete for who can make the most art. Apologies for lack of archives as Art Fight requires an account to lurk there, but please enjoy some of the findings I can drag up for you.

I have actually seen that video, as well. Some of the pictures were dead-on replicas; others looked like the artist struggled with their noses. What was interesting is that they were more loyal to capturing Taika Watiti's skin tone than they are with Jayce's. Talis is olive-toned like Antonio Banderas or Benicio Del Toro. Giopara, his LoL counterpart, is white with blue eyes. However, most of the time artists will whitewash him, draw him the wrong ethnicity, give him huge hands that he simply doesn't have. I joke that authors/artists give him Donkey Kong hands and they take it literally.

Viktor is easier because he is white and white skin tones are just easier to do, and white people are less likely to get offended when they're off-white. The Jayvik animatic had over 700 artists, and some of whom and their followers were posted here. Some panels are amazing replicas, and others make me wonder how the fuck do you mess up their faces so badly.

You can either find art that takes your breath away, or you can find pieces that makes you wish you can use it as toilet paper. There is no in-between.

I absolutely hate how these people gender the way characters are written. Just say the characters are poorly-written by the author or the author only knows how to write a certain type of character. This "x written by men/women" thing sounds more sexist and bigoted than the other stuff they label as such.

Also, speaking of cartoon billionair ducks, all these SJWs knowledge about justice, inequality, and acceptance seems to come from cartoons, comics, and fiction in general. You think a Hunger Games-style revolution is going to benefit everyone in real life? I doubt that. Someone has to grow and harvest the food, mine and refine the ores, decontaminate the drinking water, do the chemistry to make medicine, etc. and they’d like to be compensated for their labor. I also know they’re likely trying to frame this as a capitalist issue, but if you want a real example of a handful of people deciding that they should have most of the resources, look at any communist country.
