  • I love indie games because of those gambles, you can see crazy experimental concepts in action that just wont pass reviews in a Triple A. We made a bullet-hell arcade game about shooting breakfast foods out of a toaster for instance.
Jesus Christ. This isn't a mechanic, this isn't a risk.
You literally just changed the ship art to a fucking TOASTER and called it innovative

What is unique about this game?
What is revolutionary?

It looks like a cookie cutter baby's first SHMUP
Apparently the ships have different stats and fires, but... Well that's been standard since forever.

Yes.

This one is really pedantic and lazy. Use a fucking int then retard and have it be 0 or 1 behind the scenes at least. The type is not the point and I think he's so daft that he doesn't realize this. Saying if x == 0 is less clear than if is_x. Mald is so up his own entire ass that he has to pretend poor decisions are deliberate and have purpose.
He's always used the ARG to cope, too. Before Steam declared his game abandoned he would dismiss concerns saying he was working on the ARG which doesn't reflect on Steam.

Again, none of this would matter and no one would care if he didn't brag about how he has 20 years of experience in game development. When you claim to be an expert you open yourself up to scrutiny.

I decided to check and Gamemaker does have de facto Booleans.

Even the documentation explicitly says not to do what Mald is doing.
yeah i found it super disingenuine too that he's changed the purpose of his array from "well its more performant" to about how it's some shitty puzzle people have to decode through hopeful decompiling?
is he expecting people to believe he really knew how the game was going to decompile while later changing the version of gamemaker he uses while decompiler tools also change/update over time? this guy is the worst at thinking ahead, i don't believe it for a second.

i think if we looked at champions of breakfast decompiled we can immediately see how bullshit his claim is, unless he put super secret puzzles in that garbage of a game that no one found after how many years

somewhat similar scenario:
using a premade unreal engine hack codebase for an unreal game i used several sdk dumpers and their outputs varied, it's actually super important to use the same sdk dumper as the original codebase, as the class structures and namespaces can change as well as with how dereferencing might look in your code.
dumper7 puts all your main base offsets into a file called basic.hpp nice and neat, another dumper might expect you to find the base offsets yourself or put them in offset chains that change your implementation ( which is probably an insane edge case example ).

NOTCH NO

And for those playing at home, we ask you:
"What week of each month is Mald promising to release an update for his game?"

Answer:
A trick question! He actually promised it on the first day of each month, sorry - better luck next round.

Let's look at the results! And here's a hint for your next question:

Alright question two:
"What patch is Heartbound currently released on, being the end of the first week of this month?"

Times ticking aaaaand please drop your pens.

Alright let's look at the board:

You might've got this one - a bit easier, congratulations. Yes, yes I know.

An obvious answer: It's still on last month's patch.

Results are in, and everyone's a winner. Except uhhh "M-Maldavius". Thanks for playing, but you're eliminated.

Thanks for tuning in everyone! And remember:

Mods butchered my post :(

At some point the mainstream content creators are going to stumble over the Second Life era. Just imagine Mald when his furry degeneracy comes into the limelight.
Him being a furry is such a minor character flaw that nobody gives a shit about it. It's his blatant hypocrisy, inability to admit any wrongdoing, and arrogance that has gotten him into this situation.

Louis Rossman put it best. Mald isn't worth paying attention to when it comes to stuff in the Industry because there's far more qualified people that have come out and supported SKG.

As someone who *does* know GML I'm about to have an aneurysm, some of what he said is technically correct if you squint but is both infuriatingly pedantic and misses the forest for the trees, and is utterly irrelevant to the main criticisms of his code (magic numbers, idiotic giant array despite his ARG cope, not using config or data files external to the engine, moronic if/switch examples, horrendous readability and maintainability etc.). I'm getting MATI fr.

I dunno, being a furry is almost a prerequisite for being this much of a retard in this specific way.

Am I understanding Mald right: the code is deliberately verbose so players can modify the values and... somehow through the array state... extract an expected logic sequence and use it to help solve an ARG which accepts that logic sequence?

I feel like this is something he came up with after realising the scope of what he hardcoded in. There's no commenting or docstrings that guide players through this meta game in his code. I'm just not buying it.

Like his Minecraft MMO, the amount of feature creep is horrendous.

I was just watching Ross' latest video and saw this screen, which was his example of something devs could put in to 'absolve' themselves of the bullshit claim of 'we'd be liable for damage after we shut it down and couldn't police it'

Which made me think of this:
Call of Duty: WW2 was put on gamepass, but they did NOTHING to fix the broken/exploitable netcode, which is real bad. Remote code execution bad, there are loads of articles and slop videos about it currently.

Currently there are a bunch of front-of-Google articles about how they took it OFF of gamepass because of people getting pwnd.
Gamers hacked playing Call of Duty: WWII | Call of Duty: WW2 pulled offline amid hacking claims | Call Of Duty: WWII's Game Pass PC Version Was Pulled | Activision takes Call of Duty: WWII offline

Clearly these 'people' have no concern about putting something that will cause actual risk to people/their PCs up, and yet they balk at the idea of giving a dedicated server executable or just disabling a license check.

I don't understand how Mald even thinks this makes sense. The comments explaining what each index in the array is for wouldn't be passed on to players in any way because no decompiler can recover comments. The only way people would see the comments is if he released the source which he 1) hasn't and 2) can't because he knows he'd get flamed.

Fine, Ill be the one archiving the comments this time....

Don't expect me to archive more, this shitshow looks like it might go all night and I'm not going to be on patrol that long.

This is a big reason why people think the dude's a narcissist. He just can't let anything go, and it's all about him.

Furries actually possess some measure of talent, from what I've seen. Mald just likes to stir up drama wherever he goes. That's another big NPD trait.
