I assume he just wants to justify his complete lack of formerly mentioned good practices, readability and generally the amateur quality of his code. He also cherry picks a handful of examples from the video he can make very surface-level and very general statements about.
This. He avoids talking about code design and insists on this ARG bullshit as reasons for doing things the way he does. He's essentially brute-forcing a game dev project. After 8 years I suspect he knows how much of a shit show it's become, and through his arrogance tries to sell it as intentional.
Jesus Christ. This isn't a mechanic, this isn't a risk.
You literally just changed the ship art to a fucking TOASTER and called it innovative
What is unique about this game?
What is revolutionary?
It looks like a cookie cutter baby's first SHMUP
Apparently the ships have different stats and fires, but... Well that's been standard since forever.
Okay this is the first I've seen Champions of Breakfast and I'm calling BULLSHIT ON THIS. This is one of the first games you teach university students to make. Because it's easy and covers most bases: actor sprites, bullet trajectories, velocities, scores, scrolling scenes, triggered SFX, basic menu, it's all there. Drag and drop assets. Barely any scripting at all.
Whoever theorised this was a student project - you're very likely right. I've taught this shit and seen better submissions.
