No, LK kind of laughed that off, so did everyone else, they just ignored him and then when he didn't leave Noah got mocked for taking the game so seriously. The rant I'm talking about is I think the one where he mentions he could have interviewed Notch until they realized LK was part of CA and thus connected to Spoony. But at the start of this video LK kicks off by saying Spoony attacked on of his fans on twitter.

Honestly, I think once Mojang looked at the rest of Channel Awesome they realised the site was full of the angry reviewer trope who were dated even back then. Spoony LARP'ing his on-camera persona probably was the nail in the coffin, but I seriously can't imagine any game company who aren't completely clueless working with Doug Walker, a guy who screeches about old movies while making stupid faces.

I forget which Counter Monkey it was but I remember him talking about people who don't take the game that seriously and quote Monty Python a lot with derision. Because God forbid anyone have fun while playing a game.

I think for anyone who got into D&D or nerd culture in general back in the 2000s-2010s, quoting Monty Python was a rite of passage. That and trying to add furries to the game (which Hasbro eventually did in D&D 5e).

But didn’t Angry Joe, one of the most prominent reviewers on Channel Awesome, and who was RIGHT BESIDE SPOONY DURING THE INCIDENT, get an interview with Notch? This is why LordKat’s complaint makes no sense. He probably told them he was a hot shot member of Channel Awesome and they probably had no idea what that was, so he made up some reasoning why they wouldn’t let him become a game journalist. Usually people with passions are made because of undue situations. Theodore Geisel got banned from being a journalist by Yale because he got caught drinking, so he just wrote under a pseudonym. You know him as Dr. Seuss.

Mike Jeavons seems to be pretty well adjusted aswell. I guess he is almost forgotten now, been ages since i saw anything from him. Just checked his channel and its been a year since last upload so i guess he might have gone to greener pastures than youtube now. Good for him. But always thought he seemed very nice and pleasant with a lovely dry british humour. Dont think he ever had any drama whatsoever.

Brad is legit one of my favorite movie reviewers of all time. Especially when he's in a car at midnight shooting the shit with friends.

Him and spoony were legit great together whenever they did anything. Especially when spoon actually hosted him on his site after he got kicked off YouTube one time. It's how I came into contact with his work.

Them coming up with Canadian Optimus prime together was some of the funniest shit. They definitely had a good working relationship all the way till spoon crashed out.

Good on him for realizing the bullshit wasn't working and moving on with his life. It seemed like the past few years of his youtube uploads was more just him using it as a journal during his dieting and weight loss(there's a lot of junkfood, but he was eating in moderation, discussing being active, and its worked for him). Seems to have quit twitter as well, doesn't appear to have begged people to follow a bluesky account, doesn't randomly appear when checking in on linkara/armz/lupa/etc.

That's how I started watching Brad back in the day. Spoony featured Brad on the Spoony Experiment site before he got picked up by TGWTG. Way back when he lived and filmed in his grandma's basement or wherever. I believe it was one of the Bigfoot porn movies if I remember correctly.

When you think about it, unlike many of the other Channel Awesome roster and despite having done fuck all for over a decade, Spoony still has his fanbase. I'm guessing half the people browsing this thread at any time are Spoony fans.

The guy had that much talent, and could have kept going if he could have kept off social media and not over-promised on his movie. If he'd stayed in his lane and recognized his limitations, spoony would be fondly remembered.

But we don't live in that timeline. Nearly every CA creator's turned into a screeching bluesky user who either has no audience, or they're still doing the same show they did 15 years ago and eking out some kind of D list youtube career (linkara, Brad, Doug).

But yeah, if Spoony started making videos again like he used to? it'd be heralded as a great return. Its not going to happen, but a lot of people would be happy.
