UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I hope you're right, but it only takes one spark to make a sacrificial bonfire.
Let us both hope that when a riot happens, it's fat baz and dave from the chippy and not akmed and abdul.

Pakis going full riot in the UK would make the media defence of "fiery but mostly peaceful" look like childs play. The copper won't intervene, the media won't broadcast - and if they do, here's why pakis rioting is a good thing and whiteys fault.

Guys (and ladies)

Glad tidings!

Tonight I've had an epiphany. Previously I was pretty miserable, but just now I think I've got the whole thing sorted out.

See, I was on the Elizabeth Line earlier tonight. A lady was on the train with her dog. It was a big one though. Im not an expert but I'd say it was so be some kind of Golden Retriever. Anyway, I saw two pakis come on and look super uncomfortable with the dog. Remember, they consider them to be unclean (ironic).

They actually moved carriages, and the rest of us normal people were left witg a disease free tube carriage to give this good boy a lot of ear scritches and belly rubs.

Tube dogs could provide more long term benefits than airport sniffer dogs. Someone get Reform's leadership on the line. These are the kind of policies we need.
That's nothing. This one time I was on the train and scared of all the niggers and then my UNDERTALE "lesser dog" scarf came alive like in Stretch Panic and deleted all the niggers and I was OK.:)

What did I say?
:gold::gold::gold::gold::gold::gold::gold:
Calling this out somehow makes you a pinko commie though, why is that?
Politicians retiring from politics into banks or big tech isn't controversial. Saying the reason everything is shit is because of greed is. Mark Hamill says the same shit about modern Star wars and it never makes sense. You don't do things that make people hate you and withdraw support if you want to make a profit. You don't import the third world who abuse the benefits system to make the line go up. It goes down.

It has been a perennial problem since the times of Ancient Athens that elected officials get greedy, not so much a controversy as it is a sad fact.
It also goes beyond mere humble greed, it's a mindset of fallacies, "short-termism" is a more modern word for it, and "tragedy of the commons" is an older one for a similar problem; if everyone has everything then everybody in fact has nothing for themselves, and is driven to snatch as much as they can.

Line does indeed go up because the free shit you throw at the browns is put back into the system in an incestuous loop of GDP worship, and that's just with the benefits money, look at how bent the house building "market" is, it's mutual self-assurance all the way up-down.

Student visas for undergraduate degrees need to go.
They pay more amd that subs the British students. Tuition fees got most subjects don’t cover the full cost. And yes that full cost us far higher than it used to be be so of administrative bloat. When I was an undergraduate a girl off my course worked in the foreign student Chinese-attracting office over the summer. She actually ended up employed there. She broke the numbers down for me, and this was thirty plus years ago so fuck knows how bad it is now. The whole uni grift runs on stuff like this.
Restrict finance to STEM degrees or something,
As a holder of a few stem degrees I’d say we have to have humanities as well. History, geography, all that kind of thing really is important. But we can for sure restrict everything to lower number of courses and higher quality of courses. Studying ancient Sumerian texts at Cambridge? Go for it, but just a few of you. There are plenty of stem courses that are not useful either. Forensics is fun and fascinating but there are so many students and very few jobs.
We just need academia back to a smaller pool. And we need really solid technical paths for people. Music tech for example should be a vocational polytechnic thing. Apprenticeships should be subsidised like degrees are.

STEM is the worst of the immigration nightmare, the teachers don't speak English, and neither do the students. The quality of education is so phenomenally low that it boggles the mind that each unit is 1000 bucks (AUD) plus government subsidy in a class of 25 and still it's shit and getting worse. At least the humanities teachers are angloids.

I don't know about the UK but Polytechnics here are actually pretty good, far better than the University system. But if you want a reasonable price you have to temporarily quit your job, jump on benefits, apply and pay the reduced rate, and then get your job back again. If you think it's not worth it you save 3000 pounds.

Former England football star arrested at Stansted in front of stunned onlookers:
Please let it be Linekar.

My bet's on 5 years.
I reckon 18 months tops, so out in 6.
I keep forgetting the queen is dead, so when I first read 'KC' I immediately thought of Kino Casino. It's time they did a wig and gown stream covering lolcow court based shenanigans.

Some Nigel news from WalesOnline (who have, strangely enough, recently featured him in a more positive light than before...)

Nigel tops the list of MP's gifts at £1m:

Archive: https://archive.ph/wip/Qgo8w

He's also the most trusted and respected leader out of him, Starmer, Badenoch, Davey etc:

Archive: https://archive.ph/wip/S5E6f

'Since the General Election, the proportion of Britons who think that Keir Starmer does not respect people like them has more than doubled: 63% now say that the Prime Minister lacks respect for them.'

That is death-knell level damaging for the PM.

It's not. Nothing will be. Old politics has ended. The days of controversy sinking a party or PM are over.

Starmer could take a shit on the grave of Churchill, the piss on the grave stone of Freddy Mercury and nothing would happen. Some meanie stories would come out, some media cope about "we've got him this time" and nothing will happen.

The cattle have been fully domesticated. The phone-zombies plod on, munching on hits of dopamine like a melancholy Pacman.

Starmer is here until 2029, unless he steps aside for the paki party. Then it's a short step to 2030.

Hmm, am not so sure but we'll see.

Even when the left-liberal TLDR News is saying 'this could be the end for him' then something is up.

A PM who is 'disconnected' from his party and treats his own MP's with disdain, if they have an opposing point of view, is not going to last.

What people have to realise is that whilst Starmer might think he can do as he pleases, he is still ultimately a Civil Servant and there to serve the people of the country in addition to his own seat of Old Holborn and St. Pancras. I sincerely doubt that the rebels will fall into line, I expect them to get louder and eventually resign the whip or have it withdrawn for daring to say the n-word Starmer really doesn't like - that word being 'No'.

The rebellion against the watered-down Disability Bill was still a big one, not even Blair had as many of his own party vote against him, and this presents a problem for Starmer going forward:

Whilst he is a pompous oaf who views his own MP's with contempt, he is also scared of rebels upping sticks and joining other parties (such as the new Jezbollah Party) or standing as Independents. In addition, when he's lost a good chunk of his 2024 voters to the Lib Dems, Greens and Reform UK then who really wants him in charge and does he really have a purpose staying at 10 Downing Street?

I sincerely doubt he's going to be here until 2029 (hopefully not even half past seven!) and when he is eventually removed he will only have himself to blame and go down in history as the worst PM (I'd even say that Two Weeks Liz was better).

He may have the backing of the dark forces, but he does not now have the backing of the people and together we are stronger than anything which props up Starmer. We're not afraid, we don't care hence Nigel and Reform UK are forging ahead and are now seen as the Government-in-Waiting.

Watching this Lionesses game in Spoons, and I'm literally the only cunt watching it lol. I'm not kidding, there are more people watching a fat couple have a thumb fight in the corner. And they wonder why sponsors are not interested...

And you might be thinking "Why are you watching it? I thought you said the other day that women's football is shit".

Well, yes it is shit in terms of quality (lots of laughable missed chances to score in the first half of this match), but this is still an England team, damn it. Personally, I'd watch "Downs Syndrome Tiddlywinks" if there was a chance someone in an England shirt might win the damn thing. So I'll cheer on Our Girls and to hell with all these unpatriotic bastards.

Eta:

Four fucking nil, gerrin

Eta2:

Watching the replays of the goals, they're almost always down to shocking goalkeeping. So, New concept - women's football with male goalkeepers. I guarantee there would be almost no goals ever.

Wait, why am I trying to make football more boring?? Forget that.

I'll play devil's advocate here. Why not? Why isn't he going to last.

You're correct in the sentiment but incorrect in the assumption that the people he is serving is you and I. It clearly, evidently, is not.

(I'd even say that Two Weeks Liz was better).

Forging ahead as paid opposition? Let's have a peak in on how Farage is doing with stopping the migrants...

Farage said: "Does the prime minister understand that demand is even greater now than it was in 2016?

"Does he understand the country demands that you say to the French president 'we will not accept undocumented males across the English Channel'
Caveats and ratchet effect? Whoospie daisy.

Farage isn't stupid as you think he is. They always try to paint the boats as full of women and children. Farage is saying "Stop the people on the boats" without letting them pull the usual bullshit. Farage often says things that sound weird but they mean the right thing while preventing the stock responses.
Women's football is actually pretty entertaining. You know how you watch the Olympics and your mate with a beer gut says "I could do that" and you both laugh? Watching Women's football is one of the few sports where literally any man who can tolerate 40 minutes of cardio would clean up.
Women athletes are all slags. Doubt I'd last 40 minutes though.

If Farage gets into power and stops even one boat, I'll delete my account and donate my laptop to boat niggers.

So at worse he's as bad as everyone else. And at best he stops the boats because he wants to grift more and he has to keep this promise to make that possible.
I agree. I'm pretty jaded, but I don't know what the realistic (key word) alternative is to putting Nigel in charge. Sure he might stab us in the back, but how is that different to any politician? Have you seen who's in Number Ten right now?
