Dunno if this is late, but apparently VGE didn't talk to their own developers before putting out their statement.

Let's take botted (or invalid) votes out of the equation for now. Does having more signatures than necessary influence the policymakers, or if (as unlikely as that'll be) we had 1,000,001 signatures it would make no difference?
By the rules of the system, no it doesn't, they have to give it the same level of discussion regardless. In practical reality, knowing that ten million people care alongside a bunch of high profile figures will matter more than one million. Democracy is a popularity contest and nothing else at the end of the day.

But this shouldn't be a huge issue either way, assuming the line is crossed - As Ross stated in his Videos, this is a pretty simple win for politicians. The ask is operating on the basis of logic that most people hold to be morally and rationally right, nobody thinks its fair to hit "Buy" and then have your shit actively reclaimed, look at the Sony digital library backlash recently. Throwing down a few basic "Don't do thats" stem most of the bleeding, don't meaningfully impact profits or firms, and looks good to pretty much every side of the european political aisle.

What's to stop publishers from giving you a 3D model file of the mtx items and saying "you still have access to what you paid for!" I 100% expect malicious compliance unless SKG manages to specify the MTX items must still be usable in the game they were purchased for after EOL.
Almost like having some sort of legal framework put into place would benefit the consumer and prevent the gaming studios and publishers from jewing you out of your hard earned money by exploiting silly loopholes. :)

Aight, I went through a bit of clips of Mald yapping and I think I know now why he's so fucking insufferable to listen to (on top of him deepening his smug ass voice), while Ross's voice caresses you like silk and makes you trust the man.
Vocal fry.
If you're one of the blissfully unaware of what vocal fry is, watch this video.
Mind you, Mald doesn't do it all the time and its impact is diminished by his fake bass boost, but it's definitely there, and once you hear it, you will not be able to unhear it. Nowhere near the level of Kardashian whores, but grating nonetheless.
Now, to my memory and knowledge (Game Dungeon on repeat as sleep aid for several months) Ross is nearly completely devoid or vocal fry while talking. An impressive feat, really.
This is a fucking cognito-hazard. I have never noticed this as an American, and I hate that this video has pointed it out.

You may have really ruined my life.

So we agree that the legislation specifically needs to close the loophole?

I wouldn't expect them to build a shop interface or anything like that to run on the client side. They'd most likely just enable console commands to turn on or off MTX, which they certainly have access to already on their development builds. I'd consider that perfectly functional even if it's clunkier. Though more importantly, are there any micro-transactions that aren't just ugly worthless shit for whales like cosmetics or xp boosts?

Perhaps the real winners were the slop-tubers we met along the way...

Can I get on the slop-tuber collage? I was first. I was first.. *sigh*

Because a model wouldn't deliver on "Continues to work as it did at point of purchase". When I buy a skin in a game, they don't email me a model file to load into my copy myself.

According to themselves, JLU is a "public service organization" that is dedicated to "peacekeeping" in Second Life. In reality, JLU is a group of retarded manchildren LARPing as superheroes that instead of saving and helping people, harass kids and teenagers on the Internet over trivial bullshit. JLU became extremely controversial due to their not-so-heroic activities, such as hacking and doxing, but most importantly, due to the fact that despite all of this, they were getting help from employees of Linden Labs, the creators of Second Life
Sounds like proto Bully Hunters, but somehow more cringe
