The thing about Phil is that things that seem like they'll be huge end up being complete nothingburgers and then all of a sudden something that seems minor becomes a major event. For example, who would have thought that someone telling him he's cringe for comparing himself to Ichiban would have resulted in possibly his biggest bitch meltdown ever? The Quartering interview had a lot of expectations and ended up being a fluff piece, the opposite happened with Sidescrollers.
Regardless of what happens, the point many are missing that this is the real fun and what we'll remember or even will look back sometime in the future to connect pieces, otherwise we'd be talking about what? Phil being retarded in games? One of his endless unhinged rants that even we forget the next day because of how common they've become? Boring fast food eating? To me this expectation is the real entertainment. I don't have a sandwich shop analogy but this is like watching a show weekly instead of binge-watching the entire season on Netflix. You think you want to see the whole thing in one go, but no, you actually appreciate it more when you have time to think about what happens next. In Phil's case, I have no doubt he'll try to spin it as a win, either by him claiming he fooled the detractors and proved a point he wanted to prove and had no way of being wrong, or by turning himself into the biggest victim that even Job would say "damn dude..."
But if this leads to an actually major event in Philstory, then this was just a juicy prelude and we'll be able to say "hey remember when we didn't know what it was?". Either this is fun speculation and expectation before we're back to normal or something bigger than Kat is coming.
One thing is for sure now. Whatever happened, it is embarrassing on some level, otherwise Phil would be already using it to milk sympathy. If he was on vacation, you can bet he'd had already posted a picture at the hotel boasting about how millions of detractors already killed themselves. If it was something positive for him like meeting with lawyers to sue Doody, he wouldn't pass the opportunity to brag about how he's about to strike back. If it was health related, he would have already said he's sick, unless it's something related to his shitty lifestyle, in which case it would be his fault entirely. The way I see it, the more plausible but boring outcome is that he just took a break and is at home pulling sweatymen.jpeg and will say that Kat talked to him about how stressed he is lately and that he needed a break because she loves him so much followed by a crying segment. The other scenario is he went back to CT. Personally, I think it would be hilarious if his prolonged stay is because he was expecting to drop by, tell Dave/Linda goodbye and where is his inheritance because he really needs that money, he really does; only to realize he got cucked out of it and his adopted cousin is the sole inheritor of the Burnell state, either because Linda passed away and Dave told Phil to go fuck himself or because Dave told Linda that Phil scammed her with the 10 year plan before dying.
This is already more fun than getting MATI because Phil is being a prick to someone randomly once again while also crying that the internet doesn't respect him.
