I bought Minecraft around 10 times (myself, gf, kids, friends of kids) many years ago, I believe right when the multiplayer combat code was released. Then Mojang sold Minecraft to Microsoft; Microsoft demanded all Mojang accounts be converted to Microsoft accounts, MS account creation was bugged as hell and wanted phone verification for every account, the deadline passed, all non-migrated accounts were deleted... and now I own Minecraft 1x despite having bought it 10x.

The narrative and overall story of the game should be so good that your community want to start investigating by themselves.
Small hints here and there leading to look closer at the code leading to a forum post and then to the community coming together with a sense of accomplishment, finding and solving a hidden mystery.

His "rescue" is not registered as a rescue or non-profit; his reason for this makes no sense. He got money from a game published by Offbrand Games for this "rescue" for some ferret DLC as part of a ... promotion?

To expand on this, because I agree it hasn't received enough attention: it was the Offbrand-published 'Rivals of Aether 2'. The devs put out some sort of ferret-themed MTX bundle a few months ago, with 25% going to Mald's rescue company. They went out of their way NOT to tell their customers they weren't donating to a charity (devs confirmed they knew), and you've got the man himself commenting in his usual arrogant, dismissive, condescending and deflecting style in this steam thread (page 2). Some of the dev's comments in there have a real stench to them, too...

So you've got a potential abuse of his position as an employee of the publisher of the game (granted, he's no longer with them), and the fact that the whole thing is just generally very opaque. Suspicions of fraud/embezzlement(?) are never addressed aside from babbling about not claiming tax exemptions, which nobody cares about. (Edit: and it's the DEV who addresses that, which is extra weird)

I've gone on about it before, but it's just not received any attention anywhere but this thread. I think it's important because this obscure little episode highlights that his shady behaviour isn't just confined to lies about his background and expertise, and as people have said, the ferret "rescue" should be getting more attention generally.

I went to the wiki to see the ARG and it looks boring as shit. Having some contextless dialog trying to be mysterious with each puzzle just falls flat. The unfiction aspect is what makes an ARG an ARG. Mald (or at least the Fandom wiki authors) seem to think it's about puzzles. Insane behavior.

From my understanding, the heineken thing was also pretty abusive towards SKG. Afaict, they only wanted to do the promo after the success of the eci, which kinda defeats the point of promoting the ECI. It reeks to me of wanting to claim credit for something they had no hand in, and thus exploit SKG for their own brand image.

Wasn’t even saying he should have answered mald. Just his vid addressing this situation starting off with ‘yeah, mostly my fault for not doing anything’ has never sat right with me.

Could have reached out to all the big names that reacted to his vids, if not to be public at least to funnel the audiance. We see that this could have passed within a month.

But finishing last minute due to spite because no one otherwise cared is the much funnier outcome.
