UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

50 a week(I can't read) wtf this is is pointless

It's got to the point where I just hate seeing Starmer on TV doing anything. I can't believe this guy is the actual PM, my brain doesn't accept it as real. Instead it feels like this guy is just an actor on some fictional TV series pretending to be PM. Sat there cross-legged next to Macron. Why is everyone acting like this guy is really the PM??

I laughed out loud seeing that "50 a week" headline on the BBC website this morning. Do normies really see a headline like that and think "oh good, finally the government are doing something about it". Are people really that dumb?

Imagine pulling out all the stops, lavishing the guy with all stately honours and traditions and even getting our king to suck the guy off and all Macron does the whole time is insult the British for being "too inviting" to immigrants and calling us idiots and then at the end of it all and he's gotten his jabs in, gives us the worst possible deal he can.

Honestly I'm not even mad at Macron for this one. He essentially came over, got a ton of free stuff, insulted our upper and political class to their face and then threw them some pocket lint on the way out.

Never mind the tiny numbers, the entire conception is immoral. If someone has a right to be in the country then they should not be thrown out. And if they don't have a right to be in this country they they shouldn't be allowed to stay. "One in one out" tells me you don't understand anything.

Do normies really see a headline like that and think "oh good, finally the government are doing something about it". Are people really that dumb?
Politicians believe they are. They're hoping enough will be pacified by it. Certainly, the token normies on the focus groups they consult for this stuff will make all the right noises. Coupled with the praise lavished on them by their social media sycophants, they'll believe that the country supports their position unquestioningly.

Why did we stop hating the french again?
I never did.

Amerimutt here, but I cannot understand the purpose of such a display. They're pushing conservatives (i.e. the monarchy's traditional supporters) aside to try to win support among leftists, whom I can't imagine supporting a heckin' rayciss and imperyaliss institution when a wholesome 100 socdem parliamentary republic is on the table. Am I misunderstanding the situation or are they just retarded?
The royal family's purpose is to open bakeries. They turn up, cut the tape and leave after an hour of hand skating.

Buckingham palace's purpose is to attract American tourists.

That's the current use of the royal family. No one respects them and the few who do care are more interested in Prince Harry being a bell end than any of the nice ones.
80s had mad recession but good music and films. Nobody wanted sissy girly men.
Hair metal was big in the 80s. So were Queen. Sissy girly men were front and center.
Am currently on Skye, it seems much more "diverse". Public toilets are disgusting, people don't know how to walk on the left side of the fucking footpath, constant jabbering on there phones ON SPEAKER in nature, while everyone else is trying to get a bit of shush.
Why walk on the left? I've never had that apply here. You walk wherever and give way as needed.
Redirect all the built up anger and desire for change into unproductive channels and defuse it all without the change people want actually happening.
Good point. If Reform were unproductive I think anger would grow not shrink. Reform have 2 years to change things or things get hotter.

He's right. Macron told them the solution isn't for France to stop them, it's for Britain to stop inviting them in. If Britain wants to be the world's premier child brothel, where punters are given free housing, food and spending money then Britain deserves what it gets. Start killing pedos and stop giving everything to foreigners and foreigners will stop coming here.

G.L.A.M (Gay Los Angeles Metal) was an american thing and Freddy Mercury is arguably one of the best singers of all time. An american trend and a poof don't erase skin heads, thrash metal, British heavy metal or Arnie, Sly, Van Damme, Steve Seagull or Mel Gibson movies.
80s were brutal and manly
90s were fun and light hearted
00s were dissapointing
10s were normiefication of everything
20s are "i don't want to live on this planet anymore"

If you're into bum sex.

Adam and the Ants, Culture Club, George Micheal, Cliff Richard, Elton John, David Bowie, John Lennon, Debbie Harry.

There's not a lot of straight pop stars in the 80s and even the straight ones were acting gay and being activists for them. Are you a zoomer and looking back on meme history?

I thought that applied to a very specific demographic. Empirical evidence confirms this.

I think you are optimistic thinking people are that bright. If you do the maths, in the real world, it's 17 in, 1 out - AT BEST.

So were Rocky, Terminator, Predator, Kickboxer.....The rise of Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Van Damme. Clint was still kicking ass too.
Funnily enough sportsmen and film stars were more influential to me than arse bandits in wigs.

Put them in a detention centre indefinitely. With the most basic conditions. Let the world know. Let it be a deterrent. I'm going full Trumper.
I wonder if they had "lost" their passports, would they remember where they came from and would want to go back there under these conditions ?

Nah it wasn't. Glam and Glitter originated down south, in soho or somewhere like that, in the very late 60s to the early 70s. It was a pushback against psychedelia and progressive rock, diving into extreme glitter fashion and flamboyant glamour (whence the name glam). It didn't reach America until it was already fully formed here, when it was transported over by international british stars like Bowie.

It was extremely British. Americans were doing faggy stuff but they were more into synth keyboards and looking moody. Wearing high heels and face paint to play your gig at a workingmen's club is a totally different thing

It's just come from the various headlines and studies over recent years showing how the average person is losing what most would think are basic life skills.

Smoke alarms and just generally being useless.

Map reading.

I only go by the Gospel of Dave Mustaine when it comes to GLAM and they called it Gay LA Metal.
Eddyrooney beat me to it but you need to be told twice, we're on about the 80s, not 90s.
Those are the two big manly men you were talking about. Arguably the biggest two. VD was a ballet dancer and wasn't as popular here as he was else where.
80s, nigger. learn to read.

Imagine likening talented musicians to pop stars. Everyone is pop is gay, retarded, a nigger or a retarded niggerfaggot.
