Based on what the folks here who know him best say, such as him not understanding infantile self awareness, i find it very possible his own mortality has never dawned on him. Combine that with the fact he probably sees himself as ageless...may e he does think he is immortal.

We can only see the world through are own eyes. To a certain extent, a lot of people see their own death as something like the world ending. I am guessing Chris would be a pretty extreme version of this phenomenon.

I don't think it is pathetic of Chris to want human contact. To be cuddled by someone other then his mother. To have sex with a woman who is good enough an actress to make him believe he's a genuinely good lover. Above all, to be wanted and desired. A feeling he never felt before and likely never felt after. It's just really tragic to me. I can picture him hugging the woman. Slightly chubby, kinda dark, Cherokian. Still young, trying to make some money she probably badly needs.

And then there's this thirty-something man who lives with his mother in a filthy unsafe house. For a couple of minutes they cuddle. And it may very well have been the only genuine warm contact he ever has with another human being for the remainder of his life.

It's nothing to be proud of, it's no achievement. Not for us. Not for someone who does not have serious issues and a really messed up life. But for Chris, it was a victory. It was the moon landing. A small step for Chris, but a giant leap for autism. It's one of Chris' finest moments and I salute our autistic hero for it.

Honestly, i don't really count his supposed "mental age". Sure, a big part of him got stuck on his childhood and teenager years, but not his entire person. For me, the thought of Chris being raped in prison is horrible, but not because i consider him a child trapped in an adult's body.
