It's worse than that, it's my understanding that the alerts have the same emergency alert tone that is used for Amber / Silver / Blue??(this one is new to me and only just happened yesterday) alerts which refer to Child kidnapping in progress, Old person missing, and apparently a cop being shot(???) respectively but the range you get them from is ridiculous and so they're way too common and almost never relevant to you.

I'll get an alert about a custody dispute at 2AM and it's in an entirely different town. I wouldn't be surprised if I unconsciously turn it off in my sleep by this point.

Can confirm to an extent in that various alerts had the same annoying tone on my phone and proved to be just as useless. The last straw for me was when my phone start shrieking at me one overnight for an Amber Alert involving someone in a rural area 8-10 hours away from me in the wrong direction. It was then I figured out how to disable all the alerts I was allowed to disable.

Legally, pleading the 5th can't be used against you. Practically, it is showing Congress there is smoke and it could motivate then to pry deeper.

So...as many people have said here...what would merely seeing the list do? Being on a list is not in any way proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That's what they need for prosecution. It is, however, enough to start an investigation. Those kinds of investigations are slow-moving, they take months. You would not want anyone on that list, a list full of people with plenty of money to fly to a non-extradition country at the drop of a hat, to have the slightest idea anyone was coming for them. You'd want them to feel smug and totally in the clear until the moment comes when you're ready to bring them in and are confident the evidence you have gathered/can gather is sufficient to convict.

To be fair to liberals. Thomas hates blacks. If you've ever read his books or articles on race. He was deeply involved in the black power movement in college.
