I don't often think about this, but most people who get into "FOSS community" do so as a teenager, a minor. Contribution and participation by teenagers is encouraged. This has always been a thing. Older people often mentor younger people. It is a fertile area for grooming, especially when many of those minors are also autistic.

FOSS is an area where minors often congregate and Canonical is just okay with a letting a registered sex offender run loose, in a position of authority, even.

Has Bicha been accused of anything after molesting his sisters when he was younger? I can't seem to find anything about it. But I also haven't been able to watch through all of Lunduke's videos yet, so I can't tell where the claim he's been convicted of "thousands" of rapes comes from.
If he hasn't Canonical's response should have been something like: yes, this guy was convicted of sexual assault when he was still a minor, but he had gone through his entire adult life without re-offending, and we thought, especially with his skill set, he deserved a second chance.

That said, his behavior in defacing the XLibre github, however minor, his hyper-progressive viewpoints, and his parrot-like physiogamy, lead me to believe he is almost certainly still a danger to children, and I would not be surprised if he ends up in a predator catcher video in the next few years.

He hasn't been charged or convicted since then. It feels funny saying it, but I have smidgen of respect for him pleading no contest to a "beatable" sex abuse case. This sort of thing is notoriously difficult to try in the United States, and an unrepentant offender would have retained counsel and told the state they'll have to convince a jury to put him on the registry. (Keep in mind, Chris Chan went to jail but never was convicted of a sex offense. And then you have Ethan Ralph being found guilty of a sex offense but not being forced to register. ) I for one, am willing to withold judgement on if he presents a danger to kids unless it comes out that he has exhibited a history of weird behavior. Admittedly, I'm less charitable after that British Muslim pedo conman really did try to stage a wedding to a 9 year old at Disneyland Paris last month.
