So Canonical replied to Lunduke. Long story short, Jeremy Bicha disclosed his criminal record upon hire. Canonical always knew he was a serial child molester. Canonical implies that this is okay since it wasn't a computer or fraud related crime. Ignoring the liability of having a registered sex offender represent your company, especially at conferences, which are a big part of being a professional FOSS person. Crazy.

I'm not a Lunduke ball washer, but I appreciate a voice in open source that isn't pozzed. I started running Open Mandriva on x64 and it's great as a desktop and for gaming. Regarding the nonce situation - Canonical might be breaking UK Law here (I am not 100% here BUT I have some knowledge of relevant law, but I will fully be willing to be corrected) so please bear with me and if I get corrected I will edit it an add it here.

In the UK if you work for a company in any way that gives you renumeration or benefit or are a volunteer / community organiser and you are in a public facing way or interacting with children or other vulnerable groups (handicapped, disabled, elderly etc) you normally have to have a DBS Check, i.e. I am a official representative in public displays for my trades guild I can an do act on there behalf as such I have to have passed an hold a DBS Check.

That means I have to have no unspent convictions an some crimes can't be considered legally "Spent" nearly all of these are crimes involving sex acts, abuse (including ABH / GBH but there is some leaway in this I've been told) or other serious crimes against the person.

If they employed him as a UK based company could be held responsible if he commited any crime while working for them, so if this guy abused a child Canonical and the company directors and anyone else aware of his conviction can be taken to court as well.

This is going to get messy.

DHH is building an installer for Arch/Omarchy.

This looks promising. I'm sure Omarchy has been discussed here before, but for someone like me who has grown tired of using 3 different OSs (win/osx/linux) and I'm looking to consolidate.

I've tried setting up arch but I just get annoyed at some esoteric quirk of my particular hardware/requirements where I just give up on it. Ubuntu has always worked well to get up and going, but I've never liked GNOME so I just flop between osx/windows for gaming/desktop/dev and linux for server/backend work.

Hopefully they can get a decent bootstrap installer working and I'll gladly go buy a specific laptop if I have to. (if I can't get the weird AMD/Nvidia hybrid contraption I own to work right).

Thanks for doing the extra legwork. Like the judge in his trial, I'm particularly upset with his parents for not grounding him for life. A competant parent would have arranged for him to live with relatives or something for as many months as needed to make sure he's never going to act out again. Their coward of a father probably felt like the logistics needed to fix his son and protect his daughters were just too much.
